Commercial Description:
Inspired by the Trappist brewers of Belgium, our heavyweight Quadruple tips the O.G. scales at 25 degrees P. Master Brewer, Daniel Carey, sourced the Brett yeast that boldly frames this refined and complex strong ale. First coddled in our Oak lager tanks and then slowly matured in bourbon barrels. This is a bold beer that sips like a refined cordial of nutmeg, dried cherries and vanilla. Perfect for lying down or sipping by the fire tonight. http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/beers/unplugged belgian quad.html

Complex perfume. Juicy dark fruits. Bread, fruitcake. Subtle yeasty funk. Soft carbonation. Like most other NG beers, this exudes craftsmanship.

The best belgian quad I’ve had. Pours gold with bubbly white head. Aroma of citrus and spice. Flavors of citrus and spice to start and finishes with a little alcohol bit. Wasn’t bad for 11%.

Bottle. Drank two different bottles and they were different, so this rating is a mix of both. Both beers poured into a Chimay chalice with a small head. The similar taste in both had a tinny or metalic flavor. One had canned peaches while the other tasted like canned fruit cocktail. Both were too sweet but the alcohol was masked well. Dry finish.

I love quads so I was really excited to try this. Drewbeerme hooked this one up. Clear dark orange body with a fizzy rapidly diminishing head and no lacing. Pretty obvious it’s not Belgian/Trappist already. Aroma is spiced fairly heavily bringing a fruity aroma without the usual raisin/plum experience. The barrel notes are there, but not overpowering at all. The body is medium to heavy with a sweet finish. The alcohol is there but it helps. Overall enjoyable but I wanted to like it more.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of CaptainCougar. Clear, amber golden with an off-white head. The aroma is lightly acidic also presenting yeast, sweetish caramel and alcohol. Quite full-bodied with sweetish malts and fruit, notes of oak and a light sourness. No real bitterness. This is quite intriguing and quite unlike anything else I’ve tried. 310507

Bottle from drewbeerme. Pours a clean copper color with a minimal head and lacing. Sweet aroma of pear, cinnamon, banana and peppery spice. Flavor is mostly peach, orange peel, and cherries, complemented by a hefty malt nose. The oak wood presence is noticeable towards the end of each sip, along with the acidic tangy finish due to the brettanomyces. An enjoyable beer.

Bottled. An amber beer with a fast disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet combined with a slightly acidic bret presence, and notes of fruit - especially peaches, and spices leaving it quite complex. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit - again peaches being most dominant, combined with lighter notes of alcohol, wood, and spices, leading to a dry woody finish combined with a light acidity from bret, before the alcohol leaves a slight burn in the throat.

12oz bottles acquired in a few trades. Poured a medium and see through golden/orange color with a larger sized white head. Aromas of cherries, wood, light vanilla, yeast, and lightly spicey. Tastes of vanilla, wood, caramel, brown sugary sweetness, some dark fruits, and light yeastiness. Very light bourbon in the tastes. Sweet. Alcohol content overall well hidden.
