Commercial Description:
Inspired by the Trappist brewers of Belgium, our heavyweight Quadruple tips the O.G. scales at 25 degrees P. Master Brewer, Daniel Carey, sourced the Brett yeast that boldly frames this refined and complex strong ale. First coddled in our Oak lager tanks and then slowly matured in bourbon barrels. This is a bold beer that sips like a refined cordial of nutmeg, dried cherries and vanilla. Perfect for lying down or sipping by the fire tonight. http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/beers/unplugged belgian quad.html

Bottle courtesy of Footy. Pours a nice copper color with a small white head. Aroma of dark fruits, cherries, spices and vanilla. Flavor is rasin, cherry, spices, a little bretty funk, brown sugar and a touch of tartness. I think I can pick out a touch of bourbon from the barrel but it is very subtle and not enough to overpower the rest of the flavors. I enjoyed this brew quite a bit. Thanks Rudy!

A huge thanks to Yaniv for sharing this fun beer! Lighter coppery brown with a thin white head. Big vanilla over some alcohol and significant fruity bret. Drier, though not light. Fruity sticky, a bit of cola. Thinner low carbonation. Sweet alcohol. Fruity bourbon over some strong residual sweetness. And some fruity bret? A dry sweet finish. Man this is better than it’s score! Even if it’s not a old school quad!

12oz courtesy of tytoanderso - thanks, Tyler! Man, this is seriously quirky and impressive as hell. A nice russet pour, with zesty carbonation evident immediately. Fairly thin head and retention. But what a nose: the first whiff is the sugary malts you expect from a quad, but bam!, the brett comes screaming in with notes of vanilla too. As you get into it, you can taste the oak a bit more as it integrates with the vanilla. Slightly tart dark fruits in there that complement the brett, and somehow nothing is overpowering, even the traces of bourbon that come through - a subtle barrel-aged beer, praises be! Wow, I want more of this.

Thanks panantap-thanks a bunch. Very carbonated and bright gold color. Small white head. Nose of strong spices and malts. Tastes of bitterness, spices, sweet/sugary with alcohol very present. An interesting take on a quad-different but very good. Bourbon is really not noticeable. I need at least 2 more of these. Have Bleeng will trade.

12 oz bottle from Ken (Pantanap) I believe! Medium amberish orange w/ a short lived and thin cream colored head. Aroma is the same plasticky/band aid phenolic and tart brett aroma as the Allagash Musette I just had, but more brett character. Toasty malt, some dark cherry fruit, toffee, and earthy aromas. Hints of vanilla. Plastic/band aid goes away as it warms. The empty glass sort of has some horse barn aromas. Flavor is well balance w/ a touch of acidity from brett, as well as the earthy flavors. Toasty malt, some caramel toffee mid palate. Dry finish w/ a buttery/toffeeish flavor. Well balanced throughout. Some of that dried cherry fruit and wood in the finish. A touch of alcohol. Finish is woody, earthy, and toasty with a fruity and woody aftertaste. Lower medium CO2, very well hidden alcohol, medium body, and a smooth mouthfeel. Wow! Nice use of brett in this one. Great complexities w/ o the nasty attributes of brett. Scary well hidden alcohol. Nicely aged, and I wish I had more, but I’ll savor this one as it’s my onlly one!

Light-colored body for an Abt. Flavor is yeasty and sweet with a mild hoppiness; very little alcohol presence. Somewhat bizarre for this style, but whatever it is it’s pretty tasty.

Bottle, courtesy Gillard. Pours a dark straw yellowish color, with nice dripping lacing. Big Belgian yeast in the nose, plum, bretty, and a very distant booze. Big rich brown sugar in the flavor, with plum, caramel, and some slight booze, but overshadowed by big, rich malts. Lip-licking good, tasty and quite drinkable. Very good.

Bottle courtesy gillard. Pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is vinous with notes of bourbon, citrus, oak, and wild yeast. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness, smooth alcohol, and a slightly tart finish. Very good.
