Commercial Description:
Inspired by the Trappist brewers of Belgium, our heavyweight Quadruple tips the O.G. scales at 25 degrees P. Master Brewer, Daniel Carey, sourced the Brett yeast that boldly frames this refined and complex strong ale. First coddled in our Oak lager tanks and then slowly matured in bourbon barrels. This is a bold beer that sips like a refined cordial of nutmeg, dried cherries and vanilla. Perfect for lying down or sipping by the fire tonight. http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/beers/unplugged belgian quad.html

Bottle @ home. Orange brown color. Malt, cherry and a hint of flowers in the aroma. Full bodied. Sweet but oaky flavor, malty with dried cherries and mango. Slightly alcoholic. Flowery hops and dried fruit in the aftertaste. powerful and flavorful beer with some complexity.

Bottle from Ryan. Thanks. This is one I have wanted to try for a while, just never got around to trading for any of it. Pours out a light brown to almost red color. Smell is sweet and full of fruits, plums, and some hints of oak. Taste is sweet and somewhat spicy, no alcohol detected in this one. Yet another good one, this one sneaked up on me - I had no idea it was 11% abv. Good stuff, not in the leauge of the real quads, but certainly interesting and worth seeking out and trying. Good stuff

Another thanks to apoptosis and notalush for this brew. Light orange beer, pale white head. Much paler than any other quad I’ve had. Light brett character on the nose, horsey yeast behind light sweet malts. Flavour is still very malty with lots of brown sugar, honey, toast, and a touch of brett character as well. Fairly lean body. Moderate sweetness on the back of the palate. A hint of raisiny character. Tasty brew, bit it ain’t no quad.

Bottle. A amber beer with a tan head. The aroma is fruity, light lambic like, yeasty with wood. The taste is sweet fruity, yeasty, light acid. Medium to medium body with a sweet light alcoholic finish.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris_O’s HogTownHarry minifest. Thanks to Chris. Amber colour with a darkish off white head. Sour aroma with malt and plenty off alcohol. Flavour is tangy and very sweet with some medicinal notes. Close to great but not quite there. I’m sure with a bit of age this would mellow and be much better.

Pours a clear cherry red with a fizzy head that faded fast. Aroma is mild with a sour, metallic tang. Tart and sweet with cherries and apples in the first sip and a yeasty tang. Oak and vanilla finish with the bourbon becoming more evident as it warms. Nice, light carbonation, on the verge of medium bodied but still feels a bit light. Still an excellent sipping beer that I’d love to try after it’s set for a year or two. The unplugged series has to be the best idea from New Glarus yet.

Very strong nutmeg scent to this beer, some hints of cherry as well. Mouthfeel was thicker, felt kind of like a delicious fruity syrup in my mouth. More alcohol flavor as the brew warmed. I definitely tasted the woody flavor from the barrels as it warmed. NG’s Belgian Quad, like any other quad I’ve tried, is not meant to be chugged. If you savor it slowly, this one will treat you well.
