"Some people paint, some sing, others write ... I brew." - Daniel Carey

A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Napoleon hailed this tart beer style "the Champagne of the North." A lively and elegant masterpiece this Berliner Weiss is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavor. Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A connoisseur’s rare jewel both spirited and subtle, enjoy your sparkling toast under summer stars.

Pros: Well, it’s a nice example of the style. One of the better examples made here. Wine-like, with a heavy Pinot Grigio character. Nicely dry, with a solid intensity of flavor. Clean and very juicy fruity. Nicely tart and balanced.

Cons: Not a very complex or vibrant nose. Like it. Respect it. Wouldn’t want to have another. Drinking Berliner Weiss is not something I enjoy.

"i don’t know exactly what i was expecting from this new style, but i can safely say pinot & reisling grapes was not it. right after opening, the complex sweet white wine aroma was inticing. it did not prepare me for the tart/sour/green apple/lemon citrus aspects of the flavor, which were also quite nice. this is one lively beer, and the surprise of the night!"

Pours a pale golden color with a finger of white fizz. Nose has some wet wood, lacto, mineral driven riesling and some round hints of wheat. Palate follows, a touch watery but as the palate adjusts it opens to more complexity. Nice slate like backdrop with light lacto, rustic wheat and some hints of sweet riesling and limestone.

Bottle. Another overcarbonated New Glarus beer, have had several of these lately. Cloudy light yellow, lots of bubbles. Smell is very off, heavy soap, musty. Good flavor, crisp lemon, some tartness, but light for the style.

Nice. Sweet with a modicum of sour. Am fairly new with this style but am enjoying this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy orange pour with some soured fruit, citrus, and a few other tasty bites. One of the better unplugged beers that has lasted time. Good Stuff.

12oz at my place with group. Pours light yellow. Aroma is orange barnyard. Taste is salt orange light. Finish is quicker. Mouthfeel is very light.

Bottle shared at Craft Clerko, 06/06/13 - thanks to Nathan the Brigadier. Hazed orange amber with a thin off white head that dissipates. Nose is soured fruit, orange, lemon rind, grape skins, damp wood, over ripened apples. Taste comprises light sour tones, cherry stones, orange rind, musty, grape skin. Light to medium bodied, moderate carbonation, subtle tarte puckerings in the finale. A well constructed BW.

Fantastic, lightly tart like white grapes, a bit cloudy wheat quality. Easy to drink, flavorful. One of my favorite berliners.

Pours a hazy, golden with a copper tinge to it. Minimal white head. Aroma is slightly lactic, kinda juice-like. Tartness hits you right up front, then the lactic sourness and finishes very dry. Very light bodied, very refreshing.

12 ounce bottle poured a light cloudy yellow color with aromas of light wheat, sour wood and some lactic notes. Flavors are light sour wheat, light on palate and enjoyable in the heat.
