"Some people paint, some sing, others write ... I brew." - Daniel Carey

A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.

Napoleon hailed this tart beer style "the Champagne of the North." A lively and elegant masterpiece this Berliner Weiss is a kaleidoscope of fresh flavor. Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A connoisseur’s rare jewel both spirited and subtle, enjoy your sparkling toast under summer stars.

12oz bottle served in a shaker. Hazy light golden pour with a thin head of off-white foam that quickly settled into a lasting film. Minimal lacing. The aroma included wheat, bready yeast, sweet citrus, and some lemony sourness. The flavor had an upfront, crisp tartness. Lemon zest, crackery pale malt, and wheat. Not overly sour, but very quenching and refreshing. Light-bodied with moderate carbonation. Light and simple. A good drink for a hot day.

12oz bottle via trade as an extra thanks to kramer. Pours a mostly clear golden-yellow color with a two-finger mildly fizzy white head. Aroma is wheaty and funky with some citric tartness. Very tart flavor with wheat, yeasty funk, lemon, and white grapes. Fairly light-bodied and acidic on the palate. Refreshing and drinkable. Overall a nice example of the style.

Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow/gold, with a white head. Aroma is slightly sour fruit, yeast, and wheat. Flavor is sour fruit, and wheat. Light to medium body. Refreshing and mouth watering, the sour isn’t over done.

Bottle from biggcb. Fresh-cut grass and lemon aroma with flowers and some citrus. Golden colored and is topped with a huge foamy head. Decent retention. Lively. Tart and acidic fruity flavors with apple and lemon, maybe even some pear. Some white wine character and a grassy finish. Light-bodied and slightly dry. Nice beer.

Cloudy golden pour with a medium white head. The aroma has wheat, sourness, it’s also fruity and somewhat yeasty. Good flavor of sourness, wheat, fruits and yeast. The body is light to medium with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. A very interesting take on the disappearing berliner weisse style.

12 oz bottle acquired in trade with Soonah. Pours a slightly cloudy pale straw color with a 1/4" white head. Aroma is sour and tart. Cherries, lemons and wheat. Palate is on the light side with active carbonation. Also, a fair amount of pucker power. Flavor is sour and acidic with citrus flavors and a champagne quality to it. Tart, bitter aftertaste. Not my usual comfort zone, but very enjoyable.

Pours a hazy straw color with a quickly dissipating thin white head. Aroma is light, tart and citrusy. Flavor is lemony with a clean acidity and some bubble gum. Thin mouthfeel and high carbonation.

This poured a cloudy golden yellow color with a large fluffy white head. Aroma was sour lemon, a bit funky, and some fruits as well. Flavor was funk up front, a bit bit chalky, and finishes with a fairly tart swallow.
