This is Dan’s Gold Medal winning "Unplugged Cherry Stout." This ale is aged in Oak barrels to promote the spontaneous fermentation. Eight Wisconsin malted barleys combined with Wisconsin Montmorency Cherries make for a complex and sublime taste experience that you may never find again.

Aroma: big burst of cherries, a touch on the medicinal (cherry cough syrup) side, dark malts, cocoa. Appearance: dark brown / ruby color, good clarity, big khaki head dissipates to a ring fairly quickly. Taste: lots of cherries, lightly acidic, low bitterness, light hints of cocoa and dark malts. Not much in the way of stout character, but a nice fruit beer. Palate: medium body and carbonation. Overall: a nice fruit beer, pleasant acidity.

I’ve been interested in this for years. Pours a dark cherry with brown tones - like not a stout. Some surface light tan foam. Smells like cherries, wood, some charcoal and cola. Flavor is cherry with some cola flavors, a bit of cocoa, some wood and some raisin. Medium, thin syrup bodied with light on moderate carb. I was interested, then disappointed, now actually quite enjoying this one. I would like it alongside a dark chocolate brownie. Serving type: bottle 10-27-2012

Bottle shared at Bruce’s pad, soured via an IP in ’Merica, 19/09/13. Dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head. Nose is cherry forward, light chocolate notes, fruit cake, cocoa poweder. Taste comprises sweet notes, lgiht cocoa, earthy notes, mineral tones, cherry and chocolate brownies. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish. Decent enough if a little over sweet. Bottle at Bruce’s, thanks to Colin.. It pours cloudy dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, toast, sweet cherry, red plum, prune and some tanginess. The taste is red grape, cherry, plum, light tartness, sherbet and sugar and sweetish finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Easy-drinking stuff. Alright.
