Malty sweet with deep caramel richness. Not overly thick on the tongue (a good thing) Many super strong lagers are just too sticky on the tongue for my tastes, but this one is rich without being cloying. Some vanilla and cinnamon, but no hot alcohol. Quite satisfying. Thanks to Pjones for giving this to me. ¾ (5012), Boulder, Colorado, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2004 Clear deep ruby-brown body. The bubbly light-tan head diminshes quickly. The aroma is sweet malt, molasses, toffee, and butter. Nice. The flavor is not quite as full as the aroma. Molasses and toffee flavors are predominant with some butter in the mix. The body is full and syrupy but much lighter than the Kulmbacher and Eggenberg Eisbocks. It is a nice beer though. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 24, 2004 NG Eisbock is a really nice looking deep amber beer, with a nose that combines dark malts with a sherried smell. The flavor is strong but well balanced, with a good sweetness up front balanced by a nice finishing tang. A good beer, but frankly I wish I could have tried it after a month or two into lagering-the sherry is somewhat distracting. Rockinout (946), Kent, Ohio, USA

Sweet caramel and smoke, cherries and lemon zest; viscous and chewey, it coats the entire mouth with flavors. Wonderful. (thanks for sharing, Rockinout) snowtiger (106), Brighton, Colorado, USA

Tastes just as malty as it smells with warning alcohol. Very malty but not cloyingly sweet. Very smooth and complex. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 25, 2004 Burnt red with streaks of brown and no head. Deep, heavy malts with nuts, whole grains, minty alcohol, brandy, molasses, raisin and a light hint of floral elements. Thick, full and sticky mouthfeel with an unbelievable soft, roundedness to it. Strong malt presense in the flavor. Freshly toasted bread, fig and raisin, spicy alcohol (licorice, mint and cinnamon(?)), cherry and lightly toasted almonds. Not the most outstanding Eisbock ever, but strong, solid flavors and meshed with wonderful drinkability in an obviously strong beer to create an enjoyable experience.
