COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, this beer is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again. A complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and cherries. Unlined Oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beaten path.
2006 vintage - 7%
2010 vintage - 5.5% (separate entry)
You can tell the vintages apart as the 2010 bottles have the © symbol to the left of the UNPLUGGED banner while the 2006 does not.

2010 Unplugged bottle thanks to Jeff for sharing. Pours a mostly clear red color with a small fizzy head. Aroma is cherries, bread, apples, and light sour funk. Taste has a nice sweet and tart balance. Mostly cherries with some honey and wood. Almost tastes like a mead but just a little less sweetness. Really good.

bottle via trade. forgot where from. pours a brownish red with minimal head that dissipates in no time. aroma of cherries, cranberries, some apple. Taste is a little on the sweet side with not much actual sourness. actually tastes more like one of their fruit contraptions than a sour. hmmmm. still delish but just not sour. actually...is this serendipity? really, as I drink it I don’t get much sourness at all. very weird. I had this beer a while ago and much more sour.

12oz bottle, thanks to nuplastikk. Not sure what the vintage was, uploading rate from notes. Totally hazy dark brown red color. Little off-white head. Good ropes and bits of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick texture. Good vanilla, tasty caramel syrup. Nice dark fruit, light spicy barrel notes. Moderate sweet taste, light sour. Tasty, complex oak barrel-aged sour brown.

Nice extra from Guerde-thanks! 2010 bottle. Pretty light reddish brown. Totally clear and light carbonation. Cherry nose, with vanilla and oak. Flavors of sweet and tart cherry, light oak. Short and not very complex. Tasty but a bit overrated.

Unsure of bottle date. Checked the Fresh Beer Only page and it didn’t really help. Here’s the code on the bottom of bottle, not other marking indicating date: 8361 B-21350 Only thing I can think is this was bottled late December, 2008. A: Pours a rosey orange ale with excellent clarity and a transient single finger tan head. Rings of lacing. Sheet of light tan head. S: cherries, allspice, clove, the cherries remind me of a cherry jolly rancher or some cough syrup. Just a hint of vanilla stemming from the oak. T: Cherries, oak, yeast. Semi-tart up front with plenty of sweetness through the center. The fruit has taken on plenty of mineral-like flavors. Meh. Tastes like mulled wine. M: Light syrup feel with low carbonation. Finish is slightly cloying but short lived. O: Plenty fruity, but pretty much ends up tasting mulled wine. Probably would be good served warm. Serving type: bottle 07-13-2011

Amber/orange, hazy, off-white head. Aroma: lightly sour, toasty malts, some tart cherry, earthy notes. Flavor is similar, with toasty malts, earthy, woody notes, some tart cherry.

12oz bottle thanks to matboz! Pours cloudy brownish red with small head. Nose is tart berry, funky oak, apple. Taste is fruity cranberry, rasberry, cherry, light funk, tiny bit of acidity. Finish is mild tart berry, oak, with nice vanilla notes from the barrel. Very thrist-quenching, very enjoyable.

A: Ruby Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head Ring that quickly disapates, No Lacing S: Cranberry, Tart Cherry T: Tart Cherry, Cranberry, Mild Red Plum M: Medicore Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Tart Overall, a pretty nice and easy drinking Oud Bruin but definitely a little over rated in my opinion. The carbonation has more of a cherry pop flavor at times when it warms up.

Pours a dirty reddish brown with a small white ring. Aroma is tart cherry and light vineagar. Taste is surprisingly smooth. Tart cherry and oak balance really well. This is a few years old so everything is very well balanced and smooth. Not overly puckering but very easy drinkable.

2012 bottle.Aroma is fairly fruity with some cherries and tart berries, but the most dominant aroma is oak and its characteristics - faint vanilla but more smokey. Not much malt character to the aroma, more a bit stale than I expected.Pours a slightly cloudy amber brown with some red highlights. Small, moderately thick head that recedes to the edges very quickly. Flavor is a balanced blend of fruit and oak with a light acidity. Slight sweetness upfront with some cherry syrup notes. The sweet cherries are balanced with the oak adding a light smokiness. The oak flavor is more similar to fresh cut oak than cured oak so I don?t pick up much vanilla. Faint bitterness and a touch of a red apple flavor.Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low acidic astringency with low alcohol warmth. Overall an alright beer, but I expected more from this bottle. The malt character is mostly faded and stale and the aroma is dominated by fresh oak notes. The flavor is better, but isn?t as complex as I was expecting. Similar to fruit pinch aged in new oak barrels.
