A few times a year, we will cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, unplugged. Always handcrafted, this beer is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again. A complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and cherries. Unlined Oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beaten path.

A: Ruby Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head Ring that quickly disapates, No Lacing S: Cranberry, Tart Cherry T: Tart Cherry, Cranberry, Mild Red Plum M: Medicore Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Tart Overall, a pretty nice and easy drinking Oud Bruin but definitely a little over rated in my opinion. The carbonation has more of a cherry pop flavor at times when it warms up.

Pours a dirty reddish brown with a small white ring. Aroma is tart cherry and light vineagar. Taste is surprisingly smooth. Tart cherry and oak balance really well. This is a few years old so everything is very well balanced and smooth. Not overly puckering but very easy drinkable.

2012 bottle.Aroma is fairly fruity with some cherries and tart berries, but the most dominant aroma is oak and its characteristics - faint vanilla but more smokey. Not much malt character to the aroma, more a bit stale than I expected.Pours a slightly cloudy amber brown with some red highlights. Small, moderately thick head that recedes to the edges very quickly. Flavor is a balanced blend of fruit and oak with a light acidity. Slight sweetness upfront with some cherry syrup notes. The sweet cherries are balanced with the oak adding a light smokiness. The oak flavor is more similar to fresh cut oak than cured oak so I don?t pick up much vanilla. Faint bitterness and a touch of a red apple flavor.Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low acidic astringency with low alcohol warmth. Overall an alright beer, but I expected more from this bottle. The malt character is mostly faded and stale and the aroma is dominated by fresh oak notes. The flavor is better, but isn?t as complex as I was expecting. Similar to fruit pinch aged in new oak barrels.

Bottle thanks to Adnielsen ! Pours a rusty reddish brown color with a finger of eggshell foam. Aromas are heavy fruit... sweet apple, berry, vanilla bean and a touch of rustic honey malts. The palate follows the nose with lots of apple pie notes mingling with fresh berry... not much funk a touch of acidity creeps in but it isn’t even overtly sour. Refreshing not too sweet but an easy drinker with complex fruit notes to keep it interesting !

Aroma of a decent sour. Sour and berries. Taste is cherry, sweet and sour. Touch of vanilla. More of a sour than the belgian red, but way less than one of the big sours. Tasty stuff.

Bottle at ratebeer tasting at CBC. Pours clear brown with a small off white head which quickly disappears. Nose is all about the funk with light tarty berry tones. Almost smells like kola beer. A touch of plum about it. very kola beer like in the taste.A fair bit of carbonation. Dark fruits definitely come into it. Bitter finish. Not too bad. Cheers!
