Commercial Description:
A Complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and whole cherries. Unlined oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beathen path.

Pours hazy brown with golden orange hightlights, a small off-white head and spotty lace. Aroma of sour fruit, cherries and astringent wood, bretts and funk. Flavor has a distinct sour cherry character, along with an earthy sweetness like raisin or fig, some slight saltiness adds warmth to the sour fruit, and more of the astringent wood. Medium body and gentle carbonation.

Murky copper pour with some head and lacing. Aroma is yeasty, some sourness, and overripe fruit. Flavor is sweet-n-sour with an overly sweet finish. Overall, a decent beer but I don’t quite get the excitement others have for it.

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. This beer is a lightly hazed reddish brown-amber with a thin and filmy off-white head that diminishes to nothing fairly soon. Minimal lacing. Cider-like aroma with touches of yeast and spice. Medium-bodied with a tart fruity character and malt, nut and spice flavors. The finish is sour cherries with a lingering tart fruit aftertaste. Overall a unique and interesting beer that I would try again.

Reddish orange color. Aroma is cider vinegar, vanilla, wood, but still somewhat mild. Full mouthfeel. Flavor is citrus tartness, vanilla, light rum, ciderish. Seems rather mild.

Bottle. Lots of CO2 in the appearance with lots of tiny CO2 bubbles clinging to the sides of the glass, thick ring of bubbles, iced tea body. Nose-syrup, sour cherries, slightly scalded butter, honey. Taste-very buttery, medium sourness, medium acid, medium CO2, wood, maple syrup, some sour cherry mash candy, light unami, a curious buttery/syrup flavor that I can’ put my finger on but that is very nice, light Dr. Pepper. Thanks Santa!

12 oz bottle thanks to lb4lb. No head. Some smells of sweet cherries, but very faint. Tastes of sour cherries and smoke. Pretty good.

Poured a cloudy dark mahogany with a fizzy tan head. Aroma of wild and sundae cherries, a bit of brown sugar, vinegar, and a slight touch of old gym socks which is keeping the aroma score from breaking past 7. Flavor follows with being a good mix of sweet and sour with nice essence of cherries, both wild and sundae. Plenty of spiciness and a touch of olive with a finish that is slightly ashen and dry. Tastes like a nice tribute to the classic Alexander, though perhaps a tad harsher than its predecessor.

Bottle from bmartin (I think - thanks to whoever it was). Nice reddish-brown color with a smaller head. Aroma is of a very oaky, slightly sour batch of fresh cherries with some vanilla. Flavor is quite woody with a good helping of cherries. Tingly and a tad raw (in a good way). Another good one from NG, but I found myself yearning for a Belgian Red - why can’t I just be happy with a great beer in hand!?!?
