Commercial Description:
A Complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and whole cherries. Unlined oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beathen path.

Pours a cloudy reddish-brown body with a frothy, cream colored head. The foam sticks around for a good while, leaving a very fine micro-film sheet in its wake. The aroma is based on sweet toasted caramel, but a blend of masterfully intertwined sour notes is the star of the show. Heaps of oak and vanilla compliment that signature New Glarus cherry. Tart apple cider and heavy cream show as well. The flavor is rich and sweet, yet wonderfully sour at the same time. Tart cherry, oak, and vanilla shine. Finishes moderately long, sweet and sour. Medium-full bodied, smooth, and satisfying. This brew is comprised of perfect little subtleties that add up to create a masterpiece. Another awesome brew from New Glarus!

Just not for me... I’m a huge New Glarus fan but this one isn’t what I’m into. It tastes ok but I really am not impressed by it. The bourbon taste really turns me off. Sorry.

Bottle huge thanks to chris for letting me try this and for everyone for letting me have most of the bottle at chris_o’s house. Aroma is ahh soo good, sour woody notes, slightly caramel giving it that sweet and sour goodness, a joy of a beer. Taste is the same sweet and sour tangy goodness, a nice creamy texture, leaving a long but slightly drying finish begging you for more. Just a joy to try somethign like this.

Bottle@Home. Wonderful complex aroma, vanilla, oak, raisin, cherry, cigars, coconut and maple. Hazy, orange/brown color, beige head, good lace. Pina colada flavor with cherries, vanilla, oak and rust. Very complex. Sweet and light sour. Sticky and warming. Very complex and extraordinary beer. Thanks Kepano.

Tasted at Patron Saints Angel Share Release. Bonus bottle shipped from CaptainCougar, who happened to show up at the tasting. Thanks Tom! Tried with deftim13, brewboy1, CaptainCougar, and others. JohnC, miketd, and WeeHeavy were here earlier, but left by this time. Small bubble amber color. Lots and lots of feet in the aroma. Some green apple. Leans sweet. Lots of similarity to Belgian Red.

Bottle. A sour beer with a strong malty sweet background. The dominant fruity sour is pleasant. A strong toasted malt aroma with a touch of nutmeg, christmas like spices. Very full bodied, lingers in the mouth, puckering.
