Commercial Description:
A Complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and whole cherries. Unlined oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beathen path.

12oz bottle (thanks, Stine!). Poured murky brown with a moderate sized tan head. Moderately sour aroma with notes of vanilla, oak, and cherry. Sour Cherry is the primary flavor, along with some vanilla and wood. Subtle notes of cocoa and tobacco become evident as teh beer warms. Long tart finish with some alcohol burn. This was fantastic.

Yummy. Well balanced with a deep cherry, oak, woodsiness. Very good. The aroma is very cherry and oaky. Pours with a slight white head and a dried cherry color. Taste is sweet and smooth cherry and oak and finishes with a sharp, dry oakiness. Very different. It is like the oak replaces the hops. Yeah!

Thanks again to Redlight for sharing this one. This one poured a reddish brown with a thin white head. The aroma was quite complex with dark fruits, malts, cherries, and almost like some real funky cheese in there too. I think this one had some age to it. The fruits come through first with cherries and strawberries with a nice mixture of oak and vanilla. It also had some tartness with some acidity from citrus fruits like grapefruit and lemons. The light sourness and vanilla flavors from the oak just make this really tasty. It was medium bodied with a lot of interesting flavors all blended together very well. Just really good stuff and very tasty. I need to find some more of this and others from New Glarus.

Aromas fillled with funky cheese, d’affinois or a brie, with vanilla and oak. Pours reddish brown with a thin white head. Fruit upfront, cherries and strawberries, with creamy vanilla, all covered with a nice sourness. Very nice! Thanks Solan! Sour vanilla candy. mmmmm.

This beer is a shocker. You pour it, and it’s red, and has next to no head from the bottle. There isn’t that much aroma, beyond a faint note of vanilla. Then you taste it and bam! The cherries, vanilla, and smoky bourbon taste explode in your mouth! Too bad it’s a one-shot deal from New Glarus, because this is a very good beer.

Bottle. Clear reddish, amber coulour with absolutely no head. Sour aroma with notes of vanilla, fruit, wine, and dried fruit. Malty flavour with a lot of acid, sourness and with a warm feeling from the alcohol.

bottle......aroma: nothing in your face with this one. just a little more than subtle nose of oak and sour cherries. wish that this one had a little more to offer in this area......appearance: poured pretty muddy. murky reddish brown and thin off white head....taste: man this is pretty damn good! sour cherry and oak obviously but then a nice sweetness develops that adds to an awesome balance. i get hints of spice in there as well: vanilla, a little cinnamon even? this one is awesome!

This bottled brew from a rating party on ar Lord Day poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a hazy typically carbonated light brown colored body. The aroma was smoky lambic like vanilla and sour. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of mild hops and sour. A decent one but not one that I would consider drinking again.
