Commercial Description:
A Complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and whole cherries. Unlined oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beathen path.

Pours a muddy brown. Nose is all ove rhte place. Citrus, malts, sour funk, booze, candy you name it. Flavor was the same way, sweet, then sour, then tart, then malty, then all sorts of sugars. Holy!

Bottle thanks to fantomas23!
Semi-opaque reddish-tan, small cream head mainly of bubbles. Nose is citrus and cherry with some vanilla, balsamic and wood, which temper the initial sour notes. Very minor alcohol with warmth. Very little fruit in the flavor, mainly eggy brett, wood, and balsamic. Moderate body, rather dry and coating. I like the Flemish notes without the Flemish cloy and weight.

2009-04-21. Ruddy brown body witha decent beige head and lacing. (3+) aroma of sweet woody malt preceding a subtle sour fruit undertone. Cherry - both sweet and sour? Light vanilla touches? (7+) Flavour is subtly sour. Wood, fruit - both generic and cherry - mild malt, very light bitterness. Lingering tart-sour furit in the finish, tangy wood notes. (7+) Smooth average plus palate. (3+) Very unique, quite good. Only complaint is that I think the wood character would personally put me off after more than one. Bottle c/o either Cheeseman or HogTownHarry

Split this beer with Carythedude. I now wish my introduction to the world of beer had been substantially earlier, possibly during the release of such a fantastic beer, as New Glarus’ Enigma. Worldly flavor substantiated by the tartness of a sour candy, with the subtle sweetness of tart fruits and caramel. Thank you Dan!

Thanks to Juelze for this fantastic brew. Crushed with Jakebra. Aroma of a granny smith apple covered in caramel. Flavor is just straight tart fruits, cherries especially, with some caramel as well, but the tart and sourness dominates awesomely. Had high expectations and it did not dissapoint. Love it.

Sampled at hellbilly’s hellraiser 3 gathering. Bottle courtesy of psprings. Hazy amber color pour with a small foamy head. Aroma is big on cherries with a bit of wood and funk. Flavor is slightly sour and dominated by cherries. Amazing brew. I love what NG does with cherries! Thanks Paul!

Murky brown in colour with a very creamy white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is lightly sour with lots of cherries, a bit sweet at times as well. The flavour is quite creamy, not high on the sour side, a little buttery with noticable cherries. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body, modedrate carbonation. Finishes fairly quick, creamy, lightly sour.

I found this to be a bit to creamy and buttery for a sour beer and not nearly sour enough. Should this be a beer that’s ment to be had fresh?

355ml bottle obtained in trades with TheEpeeist and kmweaver, thanks Chris and Ken.
Opened on July 13, 2008.

Thanks Styles for this great beer man. Nice brown color and the taste was very cherry vanilla and funk. There was a bitter aftertaste that stuck around, not that I’m complaining, but it was nice
