Commercial Description:
A Complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and whole cherries. Unlined oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beathen path.

Thanks a lot to brewblackhole for sending me this, I wish I had more from the Unplugged series. Poured a murky red with a very thin earthy head. The aroma was a combination of tart/ripe cherry, sour, oak, and some spicy citrusy taste. The flavor was very similar, ripe/tart cherry, sour taste, a bit of a bite, earthy flavor, oak, and spice. The palate was very lively and carbonated with a crisp bite. The finish was sour and crisp.

12 oz bottle. Murky purple brown with a small whitish head. Random lacing. Light cinnamon cherry. Soft, woody cherry at first with a subdued. tang. Gets earthy sour. Raspberry vinegrette and dandelion greens. Minty finish with pits. Sticky, medium body. Like a fruit saison more than a sour. Not as up front as the Red and the Tart. Unique stuff worthy of perusal.

Bottle thanks to ross. Pours out a hazy orangish brown with a loose of white head. Looks like fresh apple cider. Sour bretty aroma with a hint of cherry, some oak and peat and an earthy malt background. Lots of upfront sour cherry flavor and oak. Vanilla and and malts coming out as you swallow and a hint of brett sits on the back of the tongue. Solid medium body with a very soft carbonation.

Pours a dark mahogany color with nice tan head. Aroma of sour fruits (cherries, grapes, apples) with hints of oak and spices. Tastes like dark fruits (prunes, plums, grapes) and oak in the mouth and finishes with the wonderful taste of tart cherries. New Glarus almost makes me want to move to Wisconsin.

Wildly weird beer...it pours a great rich brown with ruby highlights and a tan head. Aroma is slightly tart and acidic. The flavors are a wildly unpredictable amalgam of tart cherries, vanilla, oak, caramel, sour and tart dried mystery fruits, touches of charred wood and smoke, wild Belgian yeastiness, and some citrusy PNW-type hopping. This is a hell of a sour brown ale...no question about it. I look forward to enjoying these again. Just might be the all-around best Flemish sour for the uninitiated!
