durhambeer (535), Durham, USA Oct 5, 2008 Big thanks to JCB for sharing -- what a treat! Muddy amber pour with small off-white head. Lots of tart cherries, some mild oak and vanilla, and dusty wood. Malty and sour. Quite nice. BMan1113VR (913), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Sep 30, 2008 Bottle thanks to thanks to zathrus13. Pours a muddy deep brown with a foamy off-white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Aroma is tart, but there is a sweetness, with vanilla, cherries, oak, brown sugar, cookie dough. Taste is not as sour as the nose would let on. Citrus, some fresh pineapple, cherries, lots and lots of vanilla, and maybe some maple syrup. Water like mouthfeel, light bubbles, and a decent amount of warming. BOLTZ7555 (528), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle acquired via trade with iowaherkeye...thanks Joey!!! WOW!!! This was a fantastic beer...complex, sour, fruity, delicious!!! Murky river water with a small eggshell head...its appearance definitely its least redeeming quality. Aroma of oak, cherry, smoke, and vanilla. This is one commercial description that hits the nail on the head!!! The wild yeast is definitely present, but not overpowering...and some sweeter flavors prevail (dark fruit, sour apple, graham cracker, and brown sugar). Wonderful beer...thanks again Joey!!! sneagrams3 (1451), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Sep 11, 2008 Tasted 8/23/08. 12oz bottle. Dark yet relatively clear hue. Off-white eye-ball of head. Sour aromas with notes of vinegar and citrus. Woody and cherries. Doughy and raisins. Damn fine nose. Medium bodied with a tart palate. Raspberries and tart cherries. Sticky finish that lingers and provides a little heat. Touch woody. Mildly juicy sweet. But the bitterness shines above all. Mulled wine and spices. Lotta fruit, lotta bang! The sour aspect mellows as the beer warms. Good sour! fidel (208), Livermore, California, USA Sep 9, 2008 Hazy brownish amber, sweet, tart, cherries, malt, caramel, vanilla, little yeast, little wood.
