English aristocracy flaunted their wealth saving barley wines for exclusive friends. Our Iced Barley Wine is an intense brew of 28.5 degrees Plato OG. Frozen in the cellars over a powerful twelve week fermentation. You hold an elegant riot of bittersweet sherry and dark fruit earthy notes. Warm and expansive it will fill your senses. Great for contemplative sipping now or lay down for an elegant occasion with friends.

A- Pours a deep, muddy, mahogany hue with little to no head. S- Extremely sweet, lots of brown sugar, dark fruits. T- Sweet, brown sugar, figs with a harsh bitterness / alochol burn at the end. Fairly dry. M- Thick with medium carbonation. D- This was an extremely enjoyable brew to sip on. I split the bottle and think half is all I could handle at a time but I really enjoyed it.

Bottle share thanks to Homer321. Pours a dark color. Sweet aroma, hops, booze barrel oaky whiskey and more booze in the flavor. Very tasty boost .

Bottle thanks to homer321. Nose full of raisin and dark fruit. Very vinous. Almost flat pour. Probably better with mire carbonation boost but still good. Kinda thin and faded out.

Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of toffee, sherry, dark fruit and tobacco. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, sherry, dark fruit, earthiness and light tobacco with a smooth dry lingering earthy finish.

In short: A rich sweet dessert beer. Ok.
How: Bottle 12oz, forget the source, over one year of age, could be 5 years old and it wouldn’t make much of a difference… a frozen barley wine…
The look: Clear ruby-bronze body topped by a persistent beige head.
In long: Simplistic nose of big sweet beer but without alcohol fumes, like smelling a sweet pastry (baklava-ish) with sweet fruit jam. Taste is obviously extremely sweet, again the taste is a mix between a sweet pastry, caramelized nuts, brown sugar, more caramel, sweet dried fruits. A gentle alcohol burn in the throat after each sip, but overall I’d say the +13% is well hidden. The generous carbonation seems fitting and helps drinkability of this monster. This is obviously a sipper but at least it is not too brutal and the body is rich and sumptuous. Took me about 30 minutes to drink a little 12oz bottle. This is not my type of beer but I somewhat enjoyed it, so for those with a sweet tooth looking for a dessert-beer this is probably pretty good. I don’t feel guilty drinking sweet beers like this one because I know I’m only one crystal meth addiction away from my ideal weight.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Brown and light red tinted body, decent clarity with almost no head. Mild tan bubble formation. Aroma is sticky sweet toffee, caramel, earthy raisins and bright fig sweetness. Slight hint of oxidation, sherry, booze. Taste is nice; lightly boozy sherry, deep and sweet prunes, light black licorice, some molasses, a touch of earthy, dirty heft in the finish. Warming, mild oxidation, too. Easy drinking given the ABV. Decent at best, this one isn’t really my jam.

Oxidized but nto by too tooo much. Some mintiness in there, caramel, tobacco, booze has subsided somewhat.

Bottle at THE Barley Wine Tasting - East Croydon. Thanks to Ken for this bottle. Pours mostly clear, copper-ruby with a fine, white foam head. Jammy fruit aroma, some caramel, alcohol. Big sweet flavor, quite spicy, some pine, heavy alcohol notes, caramel. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, boozy finish with a bit of earthy hoppiness, stinging alcohol, dry caramel. Too hot and a tough too bitter. Not very graceful.

12 ounce bottle. Pouts a darker brown with no head. Aroma is pine, malt, pepper, alcohol. Tastes dry and peppery. Interesting, but not great.
