English aristocracy flaunted their wealth saving barley wines for exclusive friends. Our Iced Barley Wine is an intense brew of 28.5 degrees Plato OG. Frozen in the cellars over a powerful twelve week fermentation. You hold an elegant riot of bittersweet sherry and dark fruit earthy notes. Warm and expansive it will fill your senses. Great for contemplative sipping now or lay down for an elegant occasion with friends.

Bottle from Homer321! Pours a nice dirty brown, aroma is fruity. Lots of dark fruits on this, the caramel I am accustomed to is not here. Solid beer and the abv is non-existent.

12oz bottle, shared by alexsdad06. Clear red brown color. Thin khaki head. Good dots of lace. Nice earthy hop nose. Great dark fruit, vinous, chocolate malts. Big smooth, kind of creamy body. Light carbonation. No sticky finish. Good light sweet taste, a good light bitterness. Alcohol is very well hidden, no burn at all, surprisingly easy to drink for the ABV. Age must have done wonders for this. Very interesting complex aftertaste. Earthy dark fruit, hint of chocolate, some flavors I very much enjoy in barleywines show in a cool way here. Huge thanks to Brad for sharing.

Aged bottle pour - side by side with NG Thumbprint series barley wine. Pours opaque mahogany - almost no head to speak of. Aroma - candied sugars, brown sugar, booze, hint of dark fruit - very sweet overall, but very boozy! Flavor is similarly boozy - sweet malts, brown sugar, dark fruits, slight hint of bitterness at finish. Palate is long lasting with a slight alcohol burn - not bad overall. Not as good as the younger barley wine, but still a pretty good offering.

Pours a clear deep amber/ruby with a thin off white head. Aroma has boozy dark fruits. Flavor has dark fruits...almost port wines with candy sugar. Mouthfeel is medium and sticky with an earthy/bitter fruity finish.

Coffee color, no head. Some malty aroma. Nice boozy barleywine, good sweet malt. Little carbonation, thick body, nice beer overall.

12 oz. bottle, sent from javit (thanks Adam), pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of rich dark dried fruits (dates, figs, grapes), brown sugar and alcohol. Flavour of rich dark dried fruits, such as prunes, figs and dates, lots of boozy liqueur and some brown sugar, though this is not cloyingly sweet. Quite boozy - the ice-bocking obviously bringing it more to the front. Medium complexity with lots of depth. Very enjoyable barley wine, though missing some element(s) of complexity to push it into the elite league.

Admitedly, I am probably having this a bit past its prime. Not that it’s gone bad, but it wasn’t quite as awesome as I was hoping for.

THE Barleywine tasting. Clear very dark brown beer, not much of a head. Light dry palate, smooth. Nice smooth malts here but by God this is a salty bastard of a beer, too much so. Could hardly taste anything else. Finishes semi dry.

I have a different iced barley wine than the picture given. It actually has a black wax top. I am not sure what year this is from but the moment I opened the bottle the overwhelming smell of alcohol engulfed my nose. Aroma: alcohol with a bit of smokeyness to it, there are subtle hints of caramel to it, however the alcohol really masks all other aromas here. Appearance: Pours a dark, clear, brown with a little white head that dissipates quickly. Taste: This is a heavy beer with a big alcohol taste right up front. Once the alcohol mellows off in the mouth you get a slight bitter sweet in the aftertaste. Palate: Little to no carbonation with a think and full bitter sweet after taste. Overall: A great beer, but a big beer. With the predominant alcohol feel, this is an acquired taste, but many barley wines are this way and this is my favorite style of beer!

Bottle @ THE Barley Wine Tasting. The pour’s deep brown with a small off-white head. The nose is cinnamon, some boozy wood. Notes of red fruits, cherry. The taste is fruitcake, spice, heavy salty plum and more cinnamon. Chocolate. Medium body, but weirdly salty, plenty of mineral. Overall, pretty meh.
