THE Barleywine tasting. Clear very dark brown beer, not much of a head. Light dry palate, smooth. Nice smooth malts here but by God this is a salty bastard of a beer, too much so. Could hardly taste anything else. Finishes semi dry.

Bright golden-amber. Not much head but at this size that’s to be expected. The aroma is woody with complex brown sugars (muscovado, date), dried apricots and whole grain breads. Thick body is lightly oily. Dry and woody, quite hot. Very muscular beer. Warming, a little bit rummy, with hints of wood, dates, raisins. A nice, burly brew. Thanks, Dak!
