Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, berry, light alcoholic. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20090913]

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of berries, malt, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of berries, alcohol, malt, and caramel, leading to a bitter alcoholic finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle at Papsø. Clear orange red coloured with a small off white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and dried fruits with notes of hops, pine needles and alcohol. Sweet flavour of caramel, dried fruits, hops, pine needles and alcohol. Warming alcoholic finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty sweet dark fruit and caramel aroma. with some hoppy hints. Sweet malty bitter hoppy dark fruit flavor with some nutty hints. Has a sweetish malty bitter hoppy finish.

THE Barleywine tasting. Clear very dark brown beer, not much of a head. Light dry palate, smooth. Nice smooth malts here but by God this is a salty bastard of a beer, too much so. Could hardly taste anything else. Finishes semi dry.

Bottle at THE Barley Wine Tasting - East Croydon. Thanks to Ken for this bottle. Pours mostly clear, copper-ruby with a fine, white foam head. Jammy fruit aroma, some caramel, alcohol. Big sweet flavor, quite spicy, some pine, heavy alcohol notes, caramel. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, boozy finish with a bit of earthy hoppiness, stinging alcohol, dry caramel. Too hot and a tough too bitter. Not very graceful.
