3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackForestCO (958) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - FEB 4, 2012Bottle thanks to Ofortuna, thanks man! Poured a lightly hazy amber-orange color with a moderate, dense off-white head that slowly receded to a bubbly layer leaving some small spots of lacing. Aroma of fruits (apricot, peach, lemon), a light spiciness (ginger), a honey-touched breadiness, and a soft tart yeastiness. Smooth, moderately sweet, fruity entry with nice hints of peach and apricot that lingers into a lightly tart, lemony middle that is paired with a lightly spicy, honey graham cracker sweetness that follows into the finish where it lingers softly with some light hints of dry hops peaking through, Crisp, lively carbonation that just asks you to drink it. Overall, it isn’t really a great example of a saison, as others have pointed out. It is a beer that tastes good and has a lively, inviting palate. I wish I would have drank it sooner, but it was still pretty dang good. Thanks again Ofort.

More tart than most saisons, sweet smell, orange-brown in color. Really enjoyed this as a beer buts its probably not the best example of a saison. Thanks to madvike for this one.

Bottle shared by Bobbo a while back, during one of my non-rating phases. I have to admit I was a little bit disappointed that one of my favorite American brewers is making an imperial saison. Why not just make a regular gravity saison? Oh well. More gravity seems to increase the estery and sweetness in saisons and this is no different. Some light tart lemon, grassy and herbal notes, sweet melon, some light apple, banana esters.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 madmitch76 (9986) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 17, 2012
24th May 2010 Hazy amber beer. Thick white head. The head is quite orange and lemon sherbet. Dry palate. Very tart fruit (but not quite sour). Orange and lemon in abundance, enough to make you blink. Even malt base. Undertone of banana. An odd beer and I don’t think it will define the ’Imperial Saison’ style.

355mL thanks to CaptainCougar. Muddy good pour. Weak head formation. White bubbles. Nose is yellow apple pie with esters, mint, cinnamon. Taste is yeasty, tart, yellow apples. Tangy. Sharper. Not really saison. Maybe abbey Tripel.

Murky golden with a small white head. Apple cider, nectar fruits, hints of off funk. Very weird and not the best.
