2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle, thanks to shigadeyo for sharing. 2009 bottle, he says. Clear red brown color. Thin ring of off-white ring of bubbly head. Some bigger BO type funk in the nose, vinegar, touch of dark fruit. As the liquid hits my lips, itís immediately apparent that the taste is just awful. Get a little bit of nail polish remover, some cheese. A rough texture, lighter carbonation. Mild slick. I can only really take bigger sips of this, but slight bigger body, I think. Interesting to try, but Iím glad I only have about 3 oz of this. Seeing a touch of the coffee in the aroma (particularly aftertaste). Touch of cheese. Gets a touch better as I go, as my palate adjusts to the initial shock. Taste is moderate-plus sweet, very little bitter, and a weird funky moderate-plus sourness that I donít love. I am kind of curious to try this fresher, but both Craig and Peter say that this tastes pretty much the same as they remember.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared at Max and Andyís Tasting, 2/28/15 (2010? Bottle)
Murky brown color, with a small head. Seems like it may have turned and/or gotten infected, but it actually wasnít terrible. Had a very sour flavor, not as sour in the aroma, which was pretty decent. Could have easily been worse.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle to snifter. Nose is moderately acetic, vinegar, vinaigrette, balsamic. Dark brown with little head. Taste is like 50% sour, 50% Porter and works really well initially. A light fudge character, some slickness on the tongue. Slightly oxidized and seems like this might be on the edge of going south. Nice tho.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at Pauls tasting. Disclaimer: this seems to have been infected or just way too old. Pours a deep murky brown body with no head, light rings of lace. Aroma is pure vinegar, acidic phenols, cherries and balsamic vinegar. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with lots of tart vinegar up front; additional notes of sour cherries, prune, oxidation, oak and balsamic.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
It must be said- this is not a typical Porter, and in some ways, it should not even be compared to other Porters. It has unique context and intent. Pours a dense, reddish chestnut brown with a tan head. Aroma is quite unique - definitively toast, more then any other I?ve tasted, by long way. Flavor is notably into the sour range, perhaps dried sour cherry with a faint malt backdrop.Medium body. It?s interesting because the sour/tart range substitutes for hops. There is residual sugar in the palate though it never comes off as sweet. My favorite part is the nose full of toast you get every time you lift the glass. Unique creation. For the record, this bottle is at least year old.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Smells heavily of toast and a bit of malt. Taste is nice and malty with a hint of sourness that adds a pleasant note to the beer. Low to medium carbonation and medium body.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
"i knew this would be unique, and it sure was. notes of a traditional side, but muted, mixed with oak, vanilla, roasted malt. a weird mix for sure, and like has already been said, not a beer iíd return to much, but maybe the most unique beer i;ve ever had."

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I brought this one to the Ffej of July Party. I got this in a trade awhile ago but I am just now getting around to drinking it.
A - Pours clear light brown with a nice one finger tall off-white head leaving spotty lacing down the glass.
S - Smells of toasted caramel malt, toffee, coffee, and some light chocolate sweetness help to break up the strong sourness. Along with the vinegary sourness you get hints of cherries and dark fruits.
T - Starts off with a bright acidic sour kick up front slowly giving way to a mix of lightly toasted caramel malt, dark fruits, coffee, chocolate, and cherries. Little to no alcohol can be detected. The finish has quite a bit of sourness, lingering through the finish.
M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Tart, watery, feel lingering for some time.
O - I actually really liked this one. It was the last beer I had at the party and I think it was the perfect beer to finish with. It is complex, yet classic. The sourness is strong but not to the point of being overpowering. Very nice.
