Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Bottle during RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting at Schlafly Tap Room. Golden brown with off-white head. Aromas of cherries and spices. Tastes of dark fruit, spices, tart notes, cherries, cherry candy. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Solid.

Pours a brownish color with some dark red mixed in and small off white head. Aroma is cherry. Taste is more cherry with some sweetness of caramel and sugar in there. Pretty smooth finish with some cherry tartness hitting you. Overall solid offering from New Glarus.

Pours a ruby red color with a slightly pink small head that disappears quickly. Aroma is like a cherry shampoo, that smells slightly medicinal, but not quite. The taste is very nice. Starts sweet, pops a tinge of tartness and then finishes sweet. Really amazing stuff.

750 ml bottle, shared by unknown. Thanks, anonymous! Pours a bright cherry red with quickly fading white head that leaves thin sudsy lacing. Aroma is massive and flows from the glass - cherries all day, every day. Muted sourness, complexity abounds. Flavor is same - an ode to the complexity of the fruit known as cherry. One of my favorite beers of all time, always an event to have a glass of this world class beer. From notes 1/23/10 (Geist Dark Lord tasting)

poured into wine glass. aroma: remember the cherry-dipped ice cream cones at DQ? that’s how this smells, except the cherry is more pronounced. oak/wood comes through, too. appearance: murky reddish brown. lovely carb bubbles. poor head retention, but ivory and creamy when there. taste: sweet vanilla and cherry; slightly bitter oak, gives way to soft cherry tart on the end. palate: fizzy, refreshing. long, smooth finish...

Like a tart cherry soda at first but with a nice rich profile underneath. Big cherry nose, maybe a little cough syrup. High carbonation is appropriate. Cherry skin in the finish. Bright red color. Belgian yeast character isn’t evident. Pleasant throughout and a nice holiday or dessert beer.

New Glarus nails another fruit masterpiece. The summer evening is a perfect pairing with this one. Dark red, almost brown, wispy white lacing around the edges. Aroma is a rich cherry pie filling. First sip is actually a malty caramel softness, then the intense tart fresh cherry hits you, with a very dry finish. The finish makes this one, could have been dangerously sweet and syrupy, but instead it is clean and makes me want another glass...

Waxed top bottle pours pinkish red. Aroma of cherries. Sweet, moderately tart and of course loads of cherry flavor. Sparkling and light. Spectacular!
