Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Vintage 2009 or 2010. Dark pink-red hue with mostly diminishing white head. Virtually no lacing. Nothing but cherry on the nose. Strong cherry throughout the experience, but it gets more tart as it starts to warm. I don’t care how many times I have this it never gets boring. Love this beer, wish this was not my last bottle.

Bottle thanks to cbfobes. Pours a clear pinkish red with a very light pink head. Huge aroma of cherry. Maybe to a fault. Almost lasted like cherry halls or jolly ranchers. Sweet taste but it gets a bit cloying after some time. Still a delicious beer.

Bomber thanks to my sister. Garnet with a beige head. Vanilla and cherry aromas. Really smooth with rich cherry.

Wonderful copper/cherry color. Nice sour ale base with a hint of cherry to balance it all out. Great beer

Bottle, thanks Chase! Aroma is awesome cherry pie and some hints of tartness... stops short of coming across artificial/cough syrupy. Flavors are of cherry pie, especially as it warms. Light body with nice carbonation. Not too sweet, but also not tart... walks the middle really well.

Bottled. Poured a foggy ruby with a fairly good lace from a pinkish off white head. Smelled of fruit - beyond the cherries it is hard to make out any other scent. Tastes very sweet. Obviously made from cherries with a hint of tart apple during the after taste. I can understand why this is a great award winning beer - however the sweetness is not for me. But I have yet to find a New Glarus that I haven’t enjoyed and its always a pleasure to drink their brews.

From a 75 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a clear ruby red with a thick pinkish tan head. Aroma of cherries and almonds. Flavors of cherry pop, sweet but surprisingly not cloying. Quite interesting, quite special.

So this is spectacular. Pours a deep blood red with pink head. Aromas are cherry to the power of 10. Maraschino cherries, cherry juice, cherry cough syrup, canned cherries. Tastes like all of those things with some oaky notes. Sour and sweet with a great fizzy and smooth mouth feel. Astounding beverage.

Sample at First Sunday. Pours a dark, hazy, and reddish caramel color, with a small, beige head. The aroma is strong and distinct cherries, so intense it’s reminiscent of cough drops or a lollipop. Behind that is a lovely layering of raspberries, chocolate, and brown sugar. Very sweet flavor, with a good, mellow sourness. Medium body, with an acidic and crisp mouthfeel. High carbonation gives it a bubbly, velvety feel. This beer is very forward and focused. The cherries are dominant, and the rest of the beer reinforces it. The result is delicious, very drinkable, and enjoyable from initial aroma to the last sip.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2015 75cl bottle into flute. Minneapolis. Appearance: royal cherry red. Bubbles floating up from bottom. Very little head. Some lacing. Aroma: heavy cherries, a little musty, a little yeasty. Taste: sweetness up front. A little tart. Palate: full, rich body. Lots of texture. Carbonation gives a slight bite. Rich cherry finish. Overall: a very very rich beer. The flavor is really nice. The cherries are delicious. Very sweet.a really great beer, and might be even better with michigan cherries!
