Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2004 ReRate-This is one of the first beers that we sampled, so i thought i would give it a proper rating. This is one of my fav beers. This beer pours a deep garnet red with lots of hazyness. Nice pink head lasts for a while. Aroma is ripe cherries, oak and other woods. The flavor is mostly cherries and the oak aging can be detected, but is int over bearing. Very vineous and sour, but definatly desirable. The palate is sprizy and fizzy but very round and full. AWESOME brew!

Reddish brown hue. Sweet, full bodied, cherries are prevalent. Strong finish.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2005 re-re rate: Soft mouthfeel (cherry skins?). My mouth was coated by a silky-cherry skin texture that left me licking and sucking my lips until all the deliciousness had diminished. Sourness and maltiness play a huge role in this beer; nice vinous notes to boot. oh so balanced and complex! Much better than last sample for some reason. A solid gateway beer. Just needs more oak and tartness.

Reddish brown. Sweet, full bodied, fresh aroma of sourish cherries, complex. Extremely tasty!

Deep Black Cherry Red, a large head that dissipates quickly, the color reddish-beige, the lace adequate. Nose is that of ripe cherries, and sweet malt grains. Start is quite sweet, the middle moderate, the finish is acidic, sour, with just a touch of hops, and a lingering sweetness in the after taste. Once upon a time I did not care for this style, but like my old ’BUD’ Ebeneezer Scrooge, I have had a reclamation. I now see the errors of my ways, and hopefully the tons of chain and beer kegs, will not fetter me upon my entrance to that great brewery in the sky, I’m sure the ’Master Brewer’ will forgive my transgressions.

UPDATED: APR 4, 2004 December 2001: Gorgeous deep maroon color, almost opaque, topped by a slight head. Powerful, powerful cherry aroma with a tinge of chocolate. Flavor is awesomely sour, but with lots of cherry sweetness and a great rich mouthfeel to balance. Might be a tad too carbonated (though not as much if you let it warm in the glass) but the finish is awesome and so is the overall experience. Another masterpiece from one of Wisconsin's finest. 9/5/9/4/19

Flemish Sour Tasting with MartinT & Rastacouere Part 1 #9. Absolutely perfect rendition of cherry pie in a bottle; the nose is of sweet and tart cherries perfectly married in a light, biscuity crust, with small hints of vanilla, cinnamon, butter and ginger...the flavor is mostly sweet, lightly spicy, juicy and wonderfully full-bodied, with lovely caramel and light cocoa underpinnings, vanilla and oak and just a dash of amaretto in the finish. Not at all too sweet in my book, rather the cherry sweetness is balanced by the intense tapestry of other baked goodies in the flavor, a firm malty body and touches of sourness from start to finish. Flawless.

Understandable that this beer’s won tons of awards. Starts with a slightly sour cherry taste, finishes with a lingering aftertaste with slight hints of chocolate. Bright red in color with near constant bubbling and a strong cherry aroma. Tastes great, looks great - a truly impressive beer.

I will admit, I am not a fan of most ’fruit’ beers (except Lambics). This one changed my mind. It is fantastic. Dominated by a cherry pie aroma and backed up by spice and fuit from the beer the aroma is truly fine. Refreshingly tart with a fruity acidity that keeps the subtle sweetness from becoming cloying. Not just a real cherry character, but the character of the best cherries you have ever sucked of the pit. Remarkable.

Nice balance between sweet cherry notes and slight tartness. Not as tart as many krieks I have had, but not cloyingly sweet.
