Opaque red. . . Creamy off white, lasting head. A cascading blanket of cherries encompasses me, filling every pour on my body. Soon tart cherries seep into my mouth, spicy and sweet they wrap my tongue and penetrate every taste bud. None resist, all cry out for more. . . as cherries ooze among them once again, they are happy.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2006 Sick looking beer, kind of like watered down blood. Huge cherry aromas. I think I came into this expecting something huge and cloying, but I was pleasantly surprised. The sweetness and the tartness are well balanced, providing for a very refreshing fruit beer. The oak comes through nicely to help dry it all out and provide an earthy counterpoint to the huge fruitiness. I dont think a cherry beer could be done any better.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2004 I can believe that there is a pound of cherries in here. Not a big fan of fruit beers, I really enjoyed this. I cannot compare this to any other beer, because it is definitely unique, but delicious! It sort of tastes like soda, sort of like wine, but also like beer. Whatever that means. But it sure is tasty. Thanks hey_kevin!

Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is murky dark red. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted light bread), with a strong note of cherry. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Very sweet...my girlfriend would love this. Enough tartness to keep it from being a total wash, though, and the aroma is strong with fresh cherry.

I don’t understand or agree wtth the style designation. This seems to be a wheat malt fruit beer. Exceptional cherry taste; nice balance between tart and sweet. Beer components are difficult to get to given the intense amount of fruit, but they are there (some wheat sourness, malt plumps up the body). Definitely yummy, but somehow escapes beerness overall, thus I echo booyaatribes’s comments. Thanks awaller05!

It is hard to think of this as a beer, and so i rated upon the experience itself. It is very sweet and fruity, very easy to drink, not something you should get if you are looking for a hoppy or even any beer flavor, but if you are looking for an experience, this is the ticket.

Just a fruit explosion. I do not like and seldom drink fruit beers. But the quality of this beer just blows me away. My first taste was at GABF 1997, and this beer stood far above every beer at the fest. You would swear you were drinking straight sour cherry juice fermented as beer. A beautiful beer that will no longer be available in Chicago beginning February 2003. Grab it now while you can!

Anyone who likes this beer has clearly never had Rodenbach Red. You definitely taste a ton of extremely sweet Wisconsin cherries in here. Unfortunately, this leans a bit too hard into lambic/black cherry soda territory. It’s no Rodenbach, despite the fact that they claim it’s a ’Flanders Red.’ Waaaaay too sweet, and not nearly beerlike enough.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2011 Ok, I enjoyed another bottle tonight with the wife. We both agree that the aroma is of cherries, butter and brown sugar... quite simply, homemade cherry pie. The flavor is of cherry pie as well; slightly salty crust and all. I had to increase my score. This is just excellent beer. To drink it is like eating homemade cherry pie without the messy cleanup. Best fruit beer I’ve ever tried.

Wow, thought this one would be syrupy but it turned out to be awesome. Great smell, looked great in the glass and went down easy. Should have bought two bottles.
