Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Poured into a champagne glass. Thick cream colored foam on top of a light burgundy red beer. Slowly dissipates to a ring with nice lacing. Smell is sweet cherry reminiscent of candy. Taste is more of a sweet darker cherry. Not very complex. Light palate with medium carbonation. Overall a very nice cherry ale. Not overly sweet and easy to drink. I’ve not found anyone that doesn’t like it.

One of the great classics of the American craft beer revolution, gift from Ster who brought it all the way from Wisconsin for me, which I am very grateful for; shared with her and other people at Belgium Chimipalooza. Thick, creamy, off-pinkish head over a hazy, deep cherry-red beer with beautiful ruby glow. Aroma of sweet cherry candy and cherry jam, candied lemon, caramel, lime zest, vanilla, grape peel, ripe blackberry, stewed apple, fruit pie. Sweet, initially almost candyish but still not cloying cherry flavour, very rich like a cherry pie and cherry jam, residual sugars, soft bready wheat base, thin but effective lemony sourish ’sting’ peeping up in the middle and lasting till the end, balancing the cherry pie sweetness; spritzy body, sweet and sourish finish, full and not too sticky. Totally different from what I had expected, even reminded me a bit of Lindemans Kriek at a certain moment, but altogether very different from the sweetened cherry lambics at the same time, more bready, more ’moelleux’ and - most importantly - much more genuinely fruit-like. Very interesting and unique, too bad this isn’t more easily available outside of Wisconsin.

Rating #2200. 750 ml wax-dipped bottle thanks to Homer’s FBW contest. Aroma is cherries bordering on overripe, flesh and almondy pits. Pours a muddy rust color with a collapsing beige head that falls into a big-bubbly ring; a little lace left behind. Taste is fairly tart, sweet, finishing lightly dry. Tastes like cherry pie filling, with spices (cinnamon) and all, although I don’t think those ingredients are actually in the beer. Really tasty, but I liked the Raspberry Tart a lot more, even though this is rated higher on the site. This one is a little too sweet maybe. Still a phenomenal fruit beer, however.

Deep red pour with a single finger head. Aroma is full of sour cherries, almost pie like too. Medium bodied. Sour cherries, almost spicy like cinnamon. Sweet and tart all at the same time. The fruit is just so vibrant, it makes me wonder how they make this happen. Reminds me of eating sour cherries. Fruit character is through the roof. A little lace present. World class beer here.

Bottle shared with friends. Pours blood red with a nice white head. Huge cherry/sweet nose that hits you before your glass is front of you. Taste is wildly cherry and sweet-think a wonderful cough syrup you can’t get enough of. Supremely drinkable.

Large shared bottle. Given that this is a fruit beer, it really couldn’t taste any better. The feel too is about perfect. Aroma: cherry dominated. Appealing but a bit too much cherry candy in the nose.

Appearance: Dark ruby red with small off-white head; Taste: Strong/tart cherry with a wine/tannin finish. Mouth/Feel: Med/Light Body, Clean. Nice brew that when in WI I always have to pick up a bottle or two. Overall: 3.9 out of 5

Bottle in a trade. Pours a plum red with a faint pink head. Aromas of cherries, cherry pie, and oak, almost a faint cinnamon. Flavors of tart cherries, hard cherry candy, cherry tart pastry, oaky tannin finish. Sharp, highly carbonated, acidic mouthfeel. Very sweet and tart. Great beer.
