Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2015 Bottle, 2000 Vintage, at the 2010 Funky 6. Incredible. Pours cloudy red with a medium, off-white head. Big aroma of sweet cherries, with hints of sourness. Flavor is very sweet, lots of ripened cherries, juiciness, some acidity. Medium bodied with soft, massaging carbonation. Lightly tart on the finish with long, lingering cherry impressions and fruit sugars. Wonderful. (August 2010, score: 4.4)

Bottle, thanks to Nisse666. Deep red beer with a small head. Sweet cherry aroma, a bit sourish fruity. Great cherry flavor, fresh sourish, sweetish, fruity, peppery, maybe some other spices, almond and rubber notes.

Bottle at MesandSim’s tasting Aug 09. Thanks to HogTownHarry and Mes for this and to Ruth for allowing us to open this. Clear deep red, lasting beige head. Aroma of red fruits and toast. Some raspberry jam. Cherry and raspberries, slightly sweet like cherry juice. Some good cutting acidity on finish. It is very good. Very cherry-ish. Bit of toffee sweetness. Like cherry toffees. Good? Better than some krieks from Belgium? Not quite. Different and good though. Glace cherry flavours.

9/9/10/8/12/9

Bottle split at the Cotteridge Convention, thanks to LKS, 24/01/14. Reddish amber with a moderate off white/crimson covering. Nose is cherry skins, almond, tarte berry, cherry bakwell, vanilla. Taste comprises glaced cherries, sweet licks, lightly soured cherry, red berry compote, jammy berry licks. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sweetish close. Decent fruit beer but just don’t get these New Glarus fruit bombs anywhere near the 4 mark like most folks seem to manage!

Bottle, 75cl. (thx to papsoe) Red, almost clear brew with a slightly artificial-feeling cherry nose, followed by almond and sugar. Marzipan, cherry and sugar in the flavor. Full, sticky mouthfeel. Astringent, citric finish with cherry. Too sweet, almondy and artificial-feeling. Unbalanced on the sweet side. Ok, so it’s a nice beer, but I can’t understand why it has so high ratings. (070510)

Hazy murky red color, small off-white head. Intensive fresh cherry aroma. Lactose and sweet cherry in the flavor. Sweet, sugary, good be more sour. Some peppery notes in the aftertaste. I was expecting more and therefore I am wondering how this is in Top50.

A: Wisconsin Belgian Red pours a cloudy, cherry red color with some hints of brown. A layer of pink foam sits atop the beer. S: The first thing I thought of when smelling this beer was cherry pie. A slight tartness is present as well, but diminishes as the beer warms. T: The flavor profile is very similar to the nose. An absolutely amazing cherry pie taste. The tartness is a bit more noticeable than in the nose. But once again, the sweetness comes through more and more as the beer warms up. M: A fairly high level of carbonation gives a feeling of a dryer finish than this beer really has. D: A really great and tasty beer. I don’t think I could drink the whole 750ml though, as it is very sweet.
