Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Pours a cloudy red dark reddish brown. A bit of a cider like appearance. Aroma says "drink me". It is of ripened cherries freshly crushed. Taste is of sweetened maraschinos cherries. This is a beer that gives you exactly what you expect when you first pop the cork. A bit of oak tannins add to the complexity. This beer is very unique and deserves a high rating, however, it is a bit too sweet for my tastes. I can see how that would play well with a mass audience.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Noam’s office. Thanks kerenmk. Pours orange to red with a medium orangey head, aroma of cherry, strong, sweet and fresh, flavor is very sweet with sherry and cherry, almonds, zesty and tasty, medium to full bodied.

Bottle thanks to Bacterial. Pours a lovely clear ruby with pinkish head that flourishes and then disappears quickly. Aroma is full of sweet cherries. Taste is sweet, but a nice and subtle tartness and very light bitterness cuts that and keeps it from being cloying. Medium body, lively carbonation. Overall: everything I expect from NG fruit beers. Sweet, sincere, single-minded, sublime. Also, 4%!

Hot day perfect beer. Ruby red pour pink head. Berry and cherry aroma little bread. Huge ripe cherry and berry mix, not that medicinal cherry taste, the good kind. Thin body and lively carbonation. So good.

On tap at brewery tasting room. Deep crimson and cordial-like. Aroma is generic fruit. Taste is sweet, fruity, mild tart. Couldn’t drink a lot if this but delicious. Finish is sherbet fizz. Overall, definitely more fruit than sour. Very mild tang. Solid, drinkable and likeable.

Bottle shared by a non-Ratebeer friend, thanks JM! ;) Pours a clear red with a low white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is of cough syrup (ugh), cherries blended with something you found at the back of an apothecary cabinet. Taste is of cherry kool-aid, too sweet and artifical for me. Mouthfeel is juicy, litterally like drinking some sweetened fruit juice from the store. Blah. Carbonation was prickly. Not sure where I stand on this one, this was way too sweet and artificial. Maybe we got a bad bottle? Bad batch with a less than usual attenuation/fermentation problems? Either way I’m off the scale (no way I’d give 4+ to this) so it’s definitely pointing in that direction.

From the April 2014 3R6P gathering. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml green bottle this beer poured a murky red color with a small foamy beige head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy sugar and mixed berry jam. The flavor was sweet, tart and tangy with jam, and a strong cherry pie filling presence. Long cherry pie filling finish. Moderately full bodied. Lovely.

The color is a dark red color with a small pinkish head, and the aroma blends a heavy cherry with a bit of chocolate malts. The taste has a heavy sweetness with a slight sourness, leaving a nice tartness. The palate fuses a medium body, average carbonation, slick texture, and a long sweet finish.
