Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a stemless wine glass. The beer pours a nice ruby color, with a low head. The nose shows notes of cherries, far fuller and with more depth than many other fruit beers. The palate shows a level of sweetness similar to, if not quite as aggressive as, the Raspberry Tart, but stops short of cloying, and shows a level of fruit character unseen in any other example of the style I’ve tried. I was expecting some tart character, given the brewer’s prowess with lactobaccilus, however, none was found. The finish is semi-sweet, and leaves a nice lingering note of the featured fruit; more refined and far less jammy than the aforesaid Raspberry Tart. Overall, it is easy to see why there is so much hype for the beer, as it is the single best fruit beer available.

Bottle. Pours clear ruby red with of creamy off-white head. Aroma is apples, cherries, bready and cereal malts, and huge floral sweetness. Flavor is chewy malt profile with tons of cherry and apple fruit notes and loads of sweetness. Well balanced and very tasty. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle share at Cotteridge Wines. Thanks to Leighton. Cloudy red / brown, small ring of white head. Aroma is cherries, berries, plasticine and jam. Body is medium, slightly foamy, medium carbonation. Taste is juicy fruits, soft malt backbone, jammy sweet, dark cherry compote. For me this was the best beer on the day - complex yet very drinkable.

Pours clear reddish amber with a thick and fine-bubbled buff head. Aroma has a strong overtone of fresh cherries. Sweet and sour cherry dominates the flavor but lets through peeps of malt and wood. Firm texture has lively fizz and leaves a nice cherry finish. Cheers for cherries!

Bottle share. Cotteridge Beano. Hazy, mucky, reddy amber. Huge cherry. Sour cherry. Taste is sweet. Some light sour. Rich, and a bit syrupy.

Colour is burgundy red and it pours with a pink thick-set head that stays. Aroma is cherries and hay? Taste is cough drops (in a good way) then tart cherry and a sweet semi-dry finish. The flavour lingers around on the palate for a while, teasing your brain.

24th Jan 2015: Cotteridge Wine meet, shared bottle. ’Cherry B’ was/is a cherry wine in the UK and this had the same aroma. Sweet cherries abound in this brew from the colour right through to the slightly souring finish. Not really my thing but an interesting take on the more traditional Belgian style.

Deep autumn rust in color with low to medium carbonation. Taste of sweet, slightly tart candied cherries, slight notes of dark fruit. Full bodied and filling.

Bottled, sampled at The Cotteridge Convention, many thanks to Beersiveknown for this one. Hazy reddish amber with slight head. Sweet cherries from the off in this one, cherryade then a hint of sourness. Next to no subtlety around this. Too over the top for my taste.

Bottle cotteridge pissup. Wow!!! Red thin head aroma is cherry jam taste same cherry drops some steawberry raspberry so sweet with great tartness to balance out. Great sticky body with good carbonation to break it up. Beer of the night for me sensational stuff good easily have drunk the bottle to myself. I wish I could buy it from my local gas station!
