3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 scooter520 (185) - - JAN 30, 2013Bottle. Appearance: very clear ruby brown with two finger and quickly dissipating tight bubbled off-white head. Aloma: tart fruit and vinegar, caramel and maybe touch of chocolate malt, mild Brett funk, big woody oakiness. Taste: starts off with mild (barely noticeable) chocolate and roasted malts, with tart fruit, Brett funk and oak in middle thru the end; ends dry oaky; not super tart. Mouthfeel: medium body with medium carbonation. Overall: not worth $15/22oz. Good flavors but falls kind of flat in the finish. Not super complex but very drinkable. Wish it were more sour.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Westmeister (938) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Bottle. Pours ruby red with thin off white head. Great aroma of sweet tart cherries and blueberries, bit lactic creaminess, vanilla, oak. Taste presence tart and tangy berries, with known blueberries, lingering semi sweet tart berry, vanilla, oak. Lively mouthfeel. Hands down best New Holland beer I have had. Just lovely barrel touch, tart, nice palate, it has a lot going for it.

Bottle share thanks to Paul, has a dark reddish pour with a bit of head. Aroma of some barrel, bit of vinegar and some fruit. Taste was similar but a little lacking, too much vinegar for me.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3859) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - APR 13, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate sour cherry, light vinegar, lemon, and oak. It pours a transparent reddish-orange with a one finger off-white/beige head that settles fairly quickly to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. There is some sporadic webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate sour cherry, lemon, and light vinegar. The finish has light-moderate vanilla and some faint oak. It’s medium bodied with lightly fizzy carbonation. Overall, this was really tasty and I’m glad I finally picked this up after assuming it was the same beer year after year since 2009.

Draft. This is one of the best tasting sours I've had. Tastes if some chocolate candy at first than finishes nice and tart. Lovely beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 1FastSTi (3151) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Pours to a clear reddish body with a creamy off white head and nice lacing. Lots of visible carbonation. Aroma is sour vinegar and vanilla. Kind of like a rodenbach or duchess. Dry wood. Flavor is vinegar and sour. Some deep wood character to it too. Creamy up front finishes dry and slick. Enough tartness, this is very much a Flemish red.

Bottle from Mari’s. Pours clear brown with a small tan film on top. Looks pretty dead in the glass. The aroma has a big woodiness, vanilla, vinegar, tart cherries. The taste has a big vinegar flavor followed by a lot of wood from the barrel. There is a sour apple and grape flavor. Very good!

Bottle; Pour is fairly clear dark brown / garnet with a modest fine bubbled khaki head in this glass. Light spotting from the lacing here, average retention here. The nose presents berries, caramel, mild oak notes in earth and vanilla, as well as a bit of mineral water present here. This one is heavy on the berries here initial, it is inherently tart, mild lactic notes here, caramel malts, and i think its lacking a little body, heft, somewhat mild mannered on the sour end of things - but otherwise its a nice attempt, the best ive had from new holland thus far.
