drewbeerme (1840), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 6, 2008 on tap NH brewpub. pours dark brown with off white head. aroma has phenols with the hatter hop profile. flavor is fruit punchy hops with slight roast to it. not bad. jeffwilliams11 (278), hooterville, Michigan, USA Jun 15, 2008 on tap at the brewpub for amd hatter days. pours dark, dark brown/black with small head. taste and aroma are very similar to standard mad hatter, but with coffee/ roasty notes. interesting twist on a really great beer. alexsdad06 (671), Ohio, USA Feb 2, 2008 Draught @ the brew pub. Pours a dark clear mahogany color with a medium fizzy beige head that leaves a thick crown. The aroma is subdued but includes citrus hops, roasted malts, and a slight chocolate sweetness. The flavor is citrusy hops, roasted malt, and dark chocolate, with the bitterness lingering through the finish. Smooth and creamy to drink. There are better IPA’s around, but this was a solid choice. biggenius29 (155), Hamilton, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2007 Growler poured into a Tulip. Pours black with a small off-white fizzy head. The aroma is not much, a little bit of roast followed by a hint of citrus hops. Taking the first drink the first thing you taste is grapefruit hops. There is a slight coffee/roast finish as it goes down, but the finish is quite bitter with a citrusy finish that lasts along time once the beer is gone. As you drink it there is excellent lacing but no head. The body is medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Tmoney99 (3646), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 26, 2007 Draft at brewpub. Poured clear brown color with a moderate white fizzy head that diminished slowly with excellent lacing. Good complex toasted sour citrus aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Well balanced bittersweet flavor with a moderate smooth bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.
