Pours near black with a 2 finger, creamy tan head. Aroma is mixed berry and tree fruity all over, light roast, char, medicinal notes, chocolate and citrus and pine hops. Flavor is nutty, lots of random fruitmedicinal notes, herbal, pine and citrus hops and an odd metallic note to the finish. light to medium body with an oily entry leading to a watery body and astringent finish with a moderate strength, but blanketing and sharp carbonation. Could be better. Lots of off/out of place flavors.

By far the best Black IPA I’ve ever tasted. I hate that I can’t find more of it. :) :)

hazy pour with minimum head, a little weak in the taste. Looks better than its taste.

Bottle shared at RBWG tasting. Pours a translucent brownish black with thin tan lacy head that sticks slightly on the way down. Aroma of roasted barley and hoppy resins. Taste follows with a quick, bitter finish that is a little thin on the mouth. Not great, but I’d definitely drink it again.

Black pour with watery tan head. Roasted malt and resiny hops. Dry roasted malt on the front with a pretty nice finishing bitter. Medium bodied but fizzzy. Ok beer just a little off

Leighton (6982) - London, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2013
Bottle at RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. Lots of pine and grapefruit in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor, some dirt, pine, grapefruit, nips of brown sugar. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly resinous finish, mild roast, some ripe citrus. Decent black IPA.

Caramelly, sweet dark malts. Kind of light on the hops both in the aroma and bitterness.

Opaque dark brown - black beer. Tidy tan head. Light palate. Smooth but a little dry. Strong dark malt with a little roast. Mild orange hop with a trace of pine. Smooth finish with both roast malt and hop bitterness. Nice enough but a bit roasty for a Black IPA IMHO.
