Since the early 1600's, the Dutch have attempted to breed a pure black tulip. Many have tried and a few have come close...but none have succeeded. Call it the Holy Grail of the tulip world. In honor of this elusive flower we have brewed this special elixir. We have combined the finest Belgian malt, rare European hops, an authentic Belgian yeast and finally, the brew is dusted with tulip petals. The resulting blend is nothing less than magical.

Golden with a light white head. Aroma is vague pepper with yeast. Flavor is peppery with doughy yeast. A little sweet in the finish, vaguely strong alcohol aftertaste. Wife rating: 3.7

Bottle. Big fruity nose, estery, berries, spice, and alcohol fumes. Hazy dark straw color. Sugary fruit, more berries, the fruit floats around but doesnít develop into much. Medium body. Full of fruit. Tasty. Nice approximation, but still not a black tulip.

Aroma of yeast, tart fruits, and some spice. Taste follows suit. Apple type flavors hit particularly in the finish. Decent tripel. Vintage 2014 has 10.5% ABV; extraordinarily well-hidden. I didnít think this tasted "boozy" at all.

The aroma evokes bread-like yeast. As I sip, I also taste caramel malt, and light hop note. Predominant tastes are sweet and sour. The aftertaste is of alcohol, but also smooth. Not too typical of a triple, but still pretty good.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark copper color with a small head and some lacing. Aroma is floral, fruity, some spice and hint of booze. Taste of fruits, malt sweetness, banana and spice. Mild bitterness and the finish is a bit sticky. Moderate body, smooth with a bit of a boozy feel. Nice beer but it is a bit short of magical.

pours a light golden amber with almost no head. no lacing. aroma is floral with banana and coriander. flavor is also slightly floral, coriander, sweet, banana, and bubblegum. light/medium body with a slightly creamy mouth feel. carbonation is very low. Belgium ales are my thing and this is a poor example. if the level of carbonation were higher it would be slightly better. Triples are usually effervescent. I donít feel the floral part of the beer complimented the sweetness. I do know that rose is used in many sweet pastries but for me, here it doesnít fit.
