COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Since the early 1600's, the Dutch have attempted to breed a pure black tulip. Many have tried and a few have come close...but none have succeeded. Call it the Holy Grail of the tulip world. In honor of this elusive flower we have brewed this special elixir. We have combined the finest Belgian malt, rare European hops, an authentic Belgian yeast and finally, the brew is dusted with tulip petals. The resulting blend is nothing less than magical.

Poured a clear straw color with a fine lasting head. Aroma is of soft malt, bubble gum, and yeasty spice. Flavor is similar with some banana and an agressive and harsh hop bitterness and flavor. Mouthfeel is crisp with a light creaminess is ruined by the bitterness and an unpleasant aftertaste.

Bottle pour into Belgian glass. Not much head on a orange colored beer. Lacing is pretty sparse. Taste is sweet...quite a bit of sugar actually. Some fruit presence (banana). Very good aftertaste. A little bit run of the mill in terms of a tripel. A good effort but in need of some additional refinements. Worth a try.

chinchill (1602) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Undated bottle served in a Porter Bar goblet. Appearance: amber-golden color. Small semi-durable head that eaves a fairly complete coat of lacing. Smell: floral, yeasty, fruity and spicy Taste: Complex. Less sweet tan the aroma suggests, especially in the mildly bitter finish and aftertaste. Fruity with banana, clove, nutmeg, and generic soft fruits. Some hop bitterness on the back end. Mouthfeel: near medium body; light-medium carbonation. Overall: a good American tripel with a true Belgian personality excepting the hop load.
