I reckon I tried this one at the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Fest. Pours a deep reddish brown with a good head. The aroma is nutty and spicy along with some booze and stinky maltiness. The flavor has lots of brown sugar and spiciness with some nutty and boozy notes.

Reddish pour. Small head. Aroma of dark fruit, sweet bread, figs. Very sweet, as is the flavor. Big bread, candy, cherry and alcohol. A touch too sweet, but quite nice overall. Nhbc is turning a leaf IMO.

Sample at New Holland. Clear reddish brown pour with a medium beige head. Creamy caramel aroma with some booze and Belgian yeast that has some bready character that tones down the banana. Flavor starts with that same yeast character (reminds me of Westmalle) and sweet malt with a spicy and somewhat boozy finish.

On tap at the Institute in Philly. Transparent ruby amber with a thin white head. Aroma of sticky fruits, pears, candy sugar, Belgian yeast. Flavor is malty, bready, pears, pale candy. Finish has some heat from the alcohol and some sweetness. A little too big for a dubbel.

Draught at TND: Aroma of malts, light yeast, light chocolate, cocoa, slight caramel, and figs. Poured dark brown/ruby in color with a small, light brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of cocoa, chocolate, malts, light fig, slight roasting, and light caramel. Medium body. Lightly dry, slightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Cocoa finish is lightly dry and slightly chalky. Better than I had expected. 9%ABV is totally hidden.
