12 oz bottle that was part of the Winter 2012 World Market 9 pack, courtesy of my in-laws. The pour is brown with ruby highlights, along with a well formed one inch light tan head. The aroma is a nice fresh nut and wood smoke and some soft spice yeast in the back. The taste is the nut, lightly sweet malt, and a pleasant soft roast. As it warms, the spice yeast of the nose shows as more of a dried fruit. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation, and the finish is and earthy dried fruit. Nice brown.

A very nice dark ale. Lighter than stouts and porters, but a very full flavored beer.

Deep, dark brown beer with a thick foamy head that disappears quickly after arrival. Aroma is a lil chocolaty, molases, malty nutty goodness. The flavor has a touch more bite than the aroma. It’s a good beer but nothing special.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 conway (570) - - FEB 28, 2013
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a 1 finger off white head. Aroma is heavy on roasted malt and a touch of rye. Taste is still dominated by roasted malt but some chocolate and caramel sweetness adds great balance. Palate is smooth and full with just enough carb to keep it lively. A nice winter warmer, but a higher ABV could have been nice.
