3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 KajII (339) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Bottle. The pour was a clear medium purplish brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) light brown fizzy head that diminished to a thin layer of residue which created some fair sticky lacing.
The aroma was extremely fruity and malty with a light bread malt and a sweet doughy yeast having notes of raspberries, pears, plums and a hint of oak.
The taste was sweet, malty and a tad acidic with a mild hint of pears early on with the end being a bit tart and sweet with notes of raspberry, and plums and having a pronounced sour finish. The flavor hung around for a good long while with the taste being mostly of a berry/plum flavor.
Mouthfeel was a definite medium in body with a subtle dry texture and a nice prickly carbonation.
Overall a fruity, tasty, refreshing brew with just the right amount of malt and tartness.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Johnsense (191) - - JAN 20, 2012
Amber/brown pour with some red. 1/2 finger of head disappeares quickly. Aroma of red wine, pears, some cherry, caramel, brown sugar. Taste - Red grape, raisin, cranberry, slight bit of pear and Raspberry. Fairly sweet 9which may turns others off) but it works imho. Lower to medium carbonation. I’ve had both better and worse from New Holland, but this was pretty decent. Went well with the cheese platter I prepared tonight.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ICEatALAMO (66) - Troy, Michigan, USA - JAN 20, 2012
2011 vintage. Pours much darker than I anticipated, a very deep amber, almost brown. Aroma is nice, lots of fruity smells that are pleasant. The taste is good, and you if you really seek them out you can taste both the pear and the oak. This beer beat my expectations, and I would buy again.
2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Reynolds314 (560) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 15, 2012
This beer smelled like a homerun and turned out to be a sacrafice bunt. Aroma of raspberries, caramel, apples, and bready malts. Taste is an overly sweet mess. Points for aroma put this one higher then it should be. If youre looking for a nice scent for your home put a bowl of this on the counter.. just dont drink it.

22 ounce bottle, vintage 2011. This has been sitting in the back of my fridge for a while now, so I figured I might as well drink it today. Served in a flute, the beer pours a reddish/brown color with an inch tan head. The head stays around for a little while, and there’s a small amount of lacing. Aroma is malty and fruity, the brew smells like dark fruit, raspberries, pears, caramel, chocolate and a bit of oak. It tastes like dark fruit (raisins, plums), chocolate, caramel, pears, and some oak and raspberry. I certainly didn’t expect the chocolate in either the aroma or taste of this brew, I was thinking this was going to be a little more tart (like the back label says), but I don’t think this brew is tart at all. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and coating with moderate carbonation. I think this is a good overall brew. It’s not quite what I expected, but the more I drank it, the more I ended up liking it. I’ll have to pick up another bottle the next time I see it again.
