BigBeer45 (672), Troy, Michigan, USA Nov 6, 2009 Bomber bottle,
pours a dark brown and ruby, gave an initial tan and off-white small head that recedes to a ring, there was a good amount of effervescence but it is hard to see unless you hold the glass up to a light, left some sticky bubbled lacing on the glass to,
there are aromas of dark brown sugar, vanilla, caramel, dark caramel candy and burnt caramel sweetness in the background, also, there are faint berry or dark fruit aromas in the background,
flavors of dark brown sugar and some burnt brown sugar, touch of coffee, chocolate, some roasted malt flavor, a touch of alcohol on the tongue and faint licorice in the background, has a medium bitterness or so at the finish,
mouth feel is medium or a bit more with a touch of syrupiness feel in the tongue,
there are lots of floaties in this brew even though I find no sediment in the bottle,
I used to enjoy this drink more a few years ago but it appears that my palate is changing (or the recipe for this drink has changed) and this has diminished my liking for this drink, anyway, I think this drink makes a good Winter Warmer to sip on.
Bonster (81), Jersey Shore, New Jersey, USA Oct 31, 2009 Bomber from my beer store. Wow! Aggressive pour, black-brown in color with thin tan head. Burying my nose in my glass aromas of bourbon, roasted malt, vanilla, and coffee smack me in the face. First sip is Wow! Bourbon/alcohol flavor up front, molasses, cocoa, malt, vanilla, a lot going on in this one. The flavor evolves as the beer warms, more notes of coffee and alcohol is less pronounced. Medium body, strong and warm. Perfect for dark cold nights. One of the best beers I’ve had in a while. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Oct 30, 2009 On tap at Stub and Herbs. Pour is nice: black body, minimal head with decent lacing. Aroma is sweet and roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, molasses. Flavor is bittersweet which is very nice. Palate is creamy but has a slight metallic finish. Solid beer overall. kmyers8807 (25), Ohio, USA Oct 29, 2009 For sure taste the bourbon. Was a very good brew other than to over strong bourbon taste. I actually enjoyed this brew, just dont dring to quickly or its lick taking shots. Davetopay (36), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Oct 28, 2009 I rank it high because I love it! Perfect weight and smoothness on the tongue. The flavor is ever evolving with maple, coffee, cocoa, molasses, bourbon, vanilla, and musky undertones. It kind of make me want to sit in the woods on a dank November day. I like it served at room temp. Chill down to far and the mouthfeel doesn’t bloom and the flavors hide. I do have to wonder how this will cellar...... 13mikey (117), New Hope, Minnesota, USA Oct 27, 2009 22 oz bomber from Princeton’s. Black in color but not very thick and little thin head. Aroma is boozy with the oak and bourbon coming out very prominently. The mouthfeel is much thinner than I expected but the flavors are definitely rich and full. Again the oak and bourbon are present with the vanilla coming through slightly on the finish. Dragonbreath (1), Michigan, USA does not count Oct 21, 2009 This is the best beer I’ve ever had!! It also makes a great marinade. JohnnyJ (1282), Carlsbad, California, USA Oct 17, 2009 Dark brown pour, thin tan head. Bourbon, sweet roasted dark malt, a bit of oak and vanilla. Mostly bourbon.. it’s kind of simple. The mouthfeel is to thin.
