Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Bottle. Poured a dark, purplish brown color with a nice brown head and strong lacing. Aroma was very pleasant, with a nice blend of roasted malts and oak. Mouthfeel was okay. Flavor wasn’t as bold as I had expected, especially for the ABV. Hints of chocolate, oak, alcohol, toffee, and coffee. This was a nice big offering from New Holland.

Drank from a nonic glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Pours black with decent light brown head. Has nice roasty aromas with some hints of the bourbon barrel. Tastes wonderfully complex, the only negative is the bourbon flavor comes out just a bit too much, should have went with 90 days in the barrel, would have been perfect! Too be honest probably my favorite Bourbon Barrel beer too date!

This is the bourbon barrel stout. Found at giant eagle 15 bucks for 4 bottles. Plainly said it’s awesome. Good bourbon finish. Not too much chocolate. 11% alcohol helps

Chocolatey and warm burn. It's easy to drink but really good. Stays on the palate nicely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is review of 2013 vintage Pours a black body with a 1/4th inch tan head. Head retention is above average for style and lacing is average. Smell is of bourbon, licorice, rye, and some fig and prune. Getting some aromas of a quad or a doppelbock. Alcohol is moderate and hops aren’t present. Taste is similar to smell with more of an emphasis on the bourbon. Decent amount of heat upfront with spice notes and burnt oak throughout. A little vanilla combats the booze, no hops detected. Mouthfeel is decently carbonated with a thin amount of foam to coat the tongue. Body is full and alcohol leaves an astringent feeling on the roof of my mouth. Overall beer was good but a little rough around the edges. Alcohol was still very present for being two years old. Thought the flavors were kinda jumbled around, can’t say I would buy again.
