3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had on tap at Heorot and also bought a bottle and enjoyed a few days later. There is really no difference in taste between each of the two ways. This is one of the strongest bourbon-influenced stouts that I have had so far, which is saying quite a lot. The aroma is oozing of bourbon and chocolatey goodness, and the color is approaching complete darkness upon pour. From the initial smell you would believe it to be very pungent with its bourbon taste, almost to an overwhelming state, but it really isnít. Other than a slight (very slight) dip in aftertatse, this is a terrific bourbon barrel stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A lot of vanilla .much more than most beers in this style. Hints of chocolate and the bourbon is apparent. It is well balanced and sweet. A different approach to a BBS. I found it the easiest to drink of the BBS that I have had. I would drink again.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tastes far more like oak than stout. Really like taking a bite from my parents dinner table. And yes, I have. Other than that some unbalanced booze. Slightly syrupy consistency. Barrel bitter and slightly sweet finish. Cask at Church key.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught @mugsBK for SplitThySkull. Pours not quite black with great lace. Aroma is sweet moderate boozy coffee cake well rounded. Flavor adds some lactic notes, banana, wood, cinnamon, deep boozy end. Feel is thick, wood lively, light tart. Big beer and lots to take in. would like to try this with a few years on it.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2013 vintage, pours a very dark brown with some deep red highlights around the edge with a one finger beige head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate. Flavor is more bourbon chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. It has a fuller mouthfeel than you would expect when pouring. Finishes dry with a touch of alcohol warmth.

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a bottle. Pours coal black with a beige head that dissipates to about a half inch. Aromas of bourbon, chocolate and coffee. Flavors of cream, bourbon, coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla. A hint of fruitiness in the finish with a bit of booziness. Sweet, creamy and bitter. Velvety smooth and creamy on the palate. This is like a slice of really good cake. This is really, really good!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla and a nice sweet booziness that comes together well. The 10% is well hidden. Just a little thin on body for my taste in a stout. A solid beer. Vintage 2013 bottle.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours black with a one-finger tan head. Notes of coffee and bourbon. Thick and greasy on the palate. Has a huge bourbon aftertaste thatís just sweet enough to make this stout easily drinkable. Iím not a bourbon guy, but this is a really good beer. Expensive. $16 for a 4-pack. But itís worth it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle, vintage 2013, shared at a tasting on February 17. The pour is kind of thin. The color is light, almost like a medium to dark brown. There was a moderate tan head, and a small amount of lace that was detected. The aroma was huge on bourbon. There was a little vanilla, and some toffee notes to go along with it, but the bourbon was somewhat dominating. The flavor was very similar. A good light chocolate and vanilla start, followed by a heavy bourbon finish. The mouth feel is really thin. and the aftertaste is really good. Nice, chocolaty, and lingering.
