4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A: Pours black with a finger of tan head that fades into a frothy ring with a little lacing. S: Roasted malts, semi-sweet cocoa, and vanilla dominate with some oak and bourbon aromas underneath. T: Roasted malts here as well with some dark chocolate and vanilla flavors. The oak and bourbon are more present in the flavor with some notes of burnt sugar and caramel. The finish is lightly boozy. M: Medium-thick body with moderate carbonation, this beer is a bit more carbonated and lighter in body than many barrel aged stouts, but it avoids being overly carbonated or too watery. O: An enjoyable beer overall and one of the more underrated stouts out there. It's not really on the same level as the best barrel aged stouts, but it's also a lot more reasonably priced and accessible than most examples.

First time drinking this in a few years. Bottle from 2015. Not as impressed as I once was, though, sadly. Iím getting bourbon on the nose, oak and some vanilla on the palate, and lots of bourbon on the finish, but there isnít the fullness that lights up your tongue like some other big stouts. Itís missing some of that deep, cocoa-y roast Iíd like an imperial stout, and the flavors donít seem to meld. Itís not overly complex. I really want to love this beer, but Iím just liking it.

12 Fl. Oz. let me get it out of the way... WOW...!!! I understand the hype... poured black with a nice tan head. Aroma of bourbon, malts, caramel and vanilla. Lots of bourbon but done right (does not overpowers the complexity of this beer), also some coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Very good, very complex, extremely enjoyable.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma starts with dark malts and bourbon sweetness, some dried fruits like dates, a bit of brown sugar and a hint of caramel. Taste is really well balanced. There is caramel and some bourbon at first giving a bit of sweetness but the finish is more roasty and bitter with a bittersweet caramel and bourbon aftertaste. Body is on the heavy side but not really as thick as other BBA imperial stouts. Overall I think itís a really good "beginner" barrel aged stout. Easy to get but well made and tasty.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark, thick, black color with a medium sized tan head. the aroma is cocoa, oak and sweet molasses. The taste has a nice bourbon bite and brings in the cocoa and oak. A really good brew.
