3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is roasty with the strong smell of chocolate. It is black with almost no light through it with a brown head. It has a strong alcohol taste, complex flavors with hints of bourbon mixed with chocolate. There is a wood after taste with a bitter finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a ruby-tinged dark brown with good-sized, creamy, lacey light tan head. Aroma is roasty, dark malts, dark fruit, oak and bourbon. Flavour has fair amount of oaky, vanillay barrel, a solid treacley , roasty dark malt, a bit of brown sugar and dark fruit and hints of bourbon. Silky mouthfeel. Impressive.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Seeing that I am Dragon Born, it makes sense to pull this from the LCBO shelf. It makes even more sense after seeing the high ratings here. And yet ... Is it maybe a little over rated by some on here? Pours oil spill black with a super thin cap that fades quicker than my drinking buddyís hairline. The booze is stealthy & the barrel is balanced & the malts are a little too sugary. Almost tastes like a weak pour of Jim Beam dumped into a glass of flat cola. Once again, Iíd love to know where they source the barrels but like most brewers they donít bother. Anyone know?

Solid. Seems like good value for the price. Like a BA Old Rasputin-lite. Thin body.

Dark black color with good lace. Big malty sweet chocolate , esprosso grounds aroma with stewed fruit and vanillin as it opens up. Big. Rich. Boozy whiskey finish. What more can one ask for. Primo stuff.

I still believe that this is hands down the best bourbon stout in terms of year round availability at a reasonable price. It also happens to be a pretty decent stout. I’d probably give it a tad lower rating if it weren’t for those two reasons but I have to give credit where it is due when I can go into most every grocery store where I live and pick up a bottle at any time. That has to count for something.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pours dark brown w cognac highlights, fine tan cap. Taste blossoms with malty toffee, oak vanillin and bourbon caramel candy corn. Rich and smooth with a full palate that shows some dry hop balance. Fruit flavours of black raisin and very smooth alcohol.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours black with thin creme colored head that dissipates. Mild chocolate aroma over light carbonation. Thick mouthfeel, bourbon vanilla flavors in a roasted malt stout. I bet this is nails on draught.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown mahogany color with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is a pleasant light roasted malts, bourbon, oak, vanilla. Flavor loses a lot of the bourbon character, more of a light roasted malts. Lighter in body than most bourbon barrel stuff Iíve had. Lingering light roasted malts and a touch of the bourbon barrel. Decent. Nothing fantastic.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Colonial Spirits.
Pours a deep dark brown with faint garnet at the edges and a smallish bubbly beige head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of roast, caramel, vanilla, light wood and bourbon with a faint cardboard. Little to no hop aroma, this one seems a bit sweet based on the nose. The flavor is roasty caramel with hints of toffee, vanilla and light oak. Light fruity notes midway through with a sweet bourbon and brown sugar linger at the end of every sip. Medium body, light level of carbonation. Nice easily assessable barrel aged stout. The oxidation in the nose is a little off putting, but the beer is quite tasty.
