Dragonís Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

This was pretty pricey ($16 for a 4-pack where I live), it better be good. I have heard great things about this one; finally decided to try it myself. Dragonís Milk pours dark brown instead of black and it looks more like a porter than a stout. It has a very light tan head. Different looking than my favorite stouts, so Iím docking it a few points there. Biased for sure, but Itís my review. The aroma is a little light for such a big stout. There is some cappuccino, bourbon sweetness, malt, black licorice and dark chocolate. Good smell, but I was expecting stronger. The taste is a perfect mash-up of a milk stout (is that why itís called Dragonís Milk?) and a coffee stout. Think of a watered down version of your favorite bourbon barrel aged stout. The palate was disappointing. Watery, thin with an aftertaste of coffee bitterness and not much else. This brew is exceedingly drinkable for 10% ABV, but I donít feel that itís worth the money. Good, not great. If I were RB, I wouldnít give it a 98. More like an 85.

yellow-caramel head, thin and fine. Fades at a moderate rate. Sweet caramelly coffee extract with vanilla bourbon and light rye bread. Delicious aroma. Body is medium wiht light easy carbonation, very little burn. oily. Creamy near the end. Flavor is hot, rye bread, tree bark, burnt sugar, light bourbon/wood. Flavor is not as amazing as the aroma. Dark and hot. Nice beer.

4-pack purchased somewhere on Kipling last weekend. Almost black appearance with a small light brown head. Aroma of vanilla, caramel, sweet malts, light oak, chocolate, light roast and toffee. Similar flavor, medium plus sweetness, creamy and smooth with a pretty full body. The 11% ABV is almost completely hidden. Pretty good beer overall, but fairly average for a bourbon barrel stout. A little too sweet IMO.

Bottle. Pours dark brown black with minimal khaki head. Smells of bourbon chocolate and slight caramel. Tastes of strong bourbon and alcohol with roasted malts. Good beer.

Fantastically rich and delicious stout with splash of vanilla and bourbon. Should be a perfect brew for those rich food dinners of meat and cheeses. Cold nights by the fire will warm you up with this one too. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a complex stout, and while itís got some great aromas, the taste was sub oar compared to many stouts Iíve had. I had a new bottle from í14. Poured into a snifter glass, deep rick black color, big tannish white head that dissipates fast. Aroma- maybe the best thing about the beer. Notes of malt, booze, licorice, and hints of bitter chocolate abound. Almost want to sniff this instead if drink it. Taste- the licorice carries through, as does the heavy heavy bourbon alcohol taste. You can tell it was aged in bourbon barrels. Initially in the mouth it feels creamy with a sweet taste, but it gets sharp and dry towards the finish with a heavy alcohol taste. Too much bourbon for me and not enough stout!!! Itís a pity I couldnít finish this as I had been drinking a lot the evening I had it. I would give this beer another taste, worth a try for anyone who loves stouts.

Bottle shared by Derek. Thick black pour, with a nice layer of tanned head. Aroma is toasty roasted chocolate, oak, bourbon, booze. Taste is a bit thin, roasted malts, coffee, light booze. Solid impy, a bit thin, not a lot of bourbon, itís good though, dangerously drinkable.
