Bottle tasting at work. I really think I should pair it with a nice southern dish, or possibly jambalaya, and re-rate. A fairly well construsted base beer (porter?), nice malt undertones with some coffee and cocoa. Despite the relaxed introduction of the peppery notes in the finish, I’m not much for this style. Again, paired with the right dish I think this could really be quite an enjoyable experience, but not something I would drink normally.

Pours clear mahogany with a small tam head. Smells strongly of peppers. Taste is a little kiss of chocolate and some dried chili flavors. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, New Holland El Molé Ocho finishes with a subtle pepper spice.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a fairly transparent copper with off-white lacing. Smells chocolate-esque with notes of coffee and chili peppers. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Not bad, but not good either.

This was a surprise. The spicing was evident but very balanced. Body was light, especially for strength. Really good beer.

Very malty and slightly boozy. Chocolate and coffee come the ouch but are overpowered by the chard chili flavor. Chili is a bit much. Tried without food but wondered if it would be an interesting pairing to roast chicken.

Bottle thanks to somebody, rating from my backlog. The smell is chiles, chocolate, mexican food, and ok. The taste is chile, mexican, and chocolate. The look is cloudy, orange to brown and has a cream colored head.

On tap at the Michigan Fall Beer Fest. Was not a fan of this one at all. A lot of weird flavors.

Dark ruby/brown pour. Peppery scent with some chocolate. Taste is malty with pepper, spice, dark fruit. Pretty odd. A bit better as it warmed, but still not really a huge fan.
