UPDATED: DEC 13, 2013 Tap: deep ruby & rustic red with a slightly off-khaki head that slowly settles to a thin layer of foam. Aroma contains light roast, vanilla, chili pepper spice, slight chipotle tones, & a back end touch of coffee grounds. Kind of all over the place, but not necessarily a bad thing. Taste has some sweet cocoa, a strange hint of tomato juice, fairly mild chipotle & chili pepper spices that start mid-palate & finish stronger. Not too hot, not even in the finish. Aftertaste has some mild vanilla, cocoa, & a touch of fading roast & spice. This beer wasn’t bad at all... I just wasn’t really vibing with it today. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood for it, but the flavors didn’t seem to harmonize like I wanted.

2013 vintage. Pours copper tinged murky hazelnut, tan head. Aroma is bizarre. Chocolate, red wine Aroma, sort of sour almost a funky note, dried chile but just a touch. Flavor is hazelnut, chocolate, touch of chile, pretty nice. Overall, not bad, but for 10.5ABV, a bit weak. Not amazing but not bad.

Bottle. This beer is terrible. Dark brown in color with no head. If you take stale, flat beer add to it jalapeńo juice, then add some two day old coffee, you might get close to this crap.

on tap @ Vino Belissimo / Lima OH --- Clear dark amber, solid beige head cover, wide bands of lace. Looks appetizing. Aroma of malt. Taste is woody malt that grows sweeter into the palate, never giving an inch to hops. An interesting taste combo, but seems a little short for the alcohol. Okay, but on the lower end of 10% brews.

Bottle thanks to Nathan. Pours a cloudy amber with no head. The aroma is chili peppers and cocoa. Similar flavors to nose with light heat and dry finish. Good.

Pour out of 2013 bottle at Northern Lights Rare Beer Fest, dark brownish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of cinnamon, chocolate, coffee, more dark fruit type notes into a bit of earth, more spice with clove. Taste was a mix of dark fruit, caramel, dark chocolate into lots of cinnamon, clove, finishing fairly sweet, spicy.

From bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with red hues with a medium to large light brown head, fairly large bubbles. Nose is chocolate hot pepper, vegetable character, bread. Medium body, medium carbonation, sweet to start moving to the finish with just a tinge of heat. Finish is a lingering hot chocolate, with some vanilla. This is a very enjoyable beer.
