Commercial Description:
Consider it an extremely hoppy barleywine, or a really big IPA. Either way, ten hop additions contribute to its lush and intriguing body. Aggressive dry-hopping brings a strong citrus character to the aroma. The flavor and smell of orange-blossoms pervade throughout the experience.
Ingredience:Water,Barley(200 pounds per barrel of American-grown malted barley),Hops(10 hop-strikes,totaling 17 ounces per barrel of American-grown hops) and yeast(it is what it is).

Pours amber gold with a thin head. Syrupy alc aroma at first. Herbal-citrus hop, butterscotch. Flavour is a bit flat. Again initial alc bit smooths out with a herbal- light citrus bitterness, some buttery oak tones. Finishes remarkably clean for 11% +.

Pours a hazy orangish amber color with an off white head. Aroma was a lot of hops, much like an american barleywine, not too sweet at all. Flavor waswas a lot of bitter citrus hops, but with a lot of sweetness and alcohol to back it up. Not bad.

22, capped. Thanks, RiversideAK. Pours clear orange with an off-white head. Mostly toffee, but a little citrus in the nose. Nutty flavor, woody finish.

22 oz bomber provided by boncoman at BCTC 2008. Poured a slightly hazy honey amber that cleared up nicely and a fizzy bubbly off white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus hops and mint?? Flavor of fading hops, caramel and alcohol. This beer needs to make up it’s mind wether it wants to be a DIPA or a BW. I can detect components of both in the aroma and flavor but the two don’t blend well and it seems like two different beer styles are fighting for center stage on this one.

Draft- Chef Paul’s. Yellow / orange in color, no head in my 11.5 oz glass. Oak, whisky, sweet, hoppy aroma. Already has my attention. Aroma not as hoppy as an IPA or other barleywines- more fruity & sweet. Beautiful balance- the hops actually hit first, followed by caramel, honey, toffee sweetness. Get a small whisky / alcohol combo bite at the end. Booze and sweetness not as heavy as you’d think for 10.5%. Just terrific.

Pours a semi-cloudy straw color, with a small, soapy lace - the aroma explodes with alcohol, practically burning my nose hairs off, but trailing behind this citrus/orange character, an abundant earthy hops, as well as a strong malt sweetness - low carbonation, slick mouthfeel - really sweet flavor, with a lot of strong alcohol, creating a medicinal quality that is hard to overlook - the hop combination is quite tasty, as is the orange and pine character it adds to the beer, but that sticky sweetness and alcohol/medicinal character are just too strong to ignore.
