Commercial Description:
Consider it an extremely hoppy barleywine, or a really big IPA. Either way, ten hop additions contribute to its lush and intriguing body. Aggressive dry-hopping brings a strong citrus character to the aroma. The flavor and smell of orange-blossoms pervade throughout the experience.
Ingredience:Water,Barley(200 pounds per barrel of American-grown malted barley),Hops(10 hop-strikes,totaling 17 ounces per barrel of American-grown hops) and yeast(it is what it is).

Dark orange in color with medium white head. Very hoppy and citric. Flavor was interesting, I think something that has potential to grow more on me and I’d like to try again. Nice combination of hops and malts.

Not easy to find, not easy to buy ($7.50 for a 22 oz), but at 10 percent, who can really complain. I’ve had other hop monsters that were better, but give it a try.

I waited awhile to get this one. Found it again after it sold out in Michigan. High alcohol kick. Very nice IPA/malty taste. Solid beer.

dark copper/amber color with a glorious white head. tons of caramel in the aroma and a decent spicy and piney hop presence. chewy malts, for sure. pretty good hop kick but by no means at the level of bigfoot or old ruffian. very similar to southern tier backburner. can’t notice the 10.5% which is deadly.

It’s really a toss-up whether this should be considered a Barley Wine or a big DIPA, although I favor the former because although highly hopped, it retains an even balance. The body’s a clear light amber and the slender head soon fizzles away into a ring. The aroma has a sweet bready malt at its base complemented by a strong citric bitterness along with tropical fruit and a hint of pine. Very warm and peppery on the tongue. The malty sweetness builds in the flavor and has the addition of juicy oranges. The hops stand up strong and make the sweetness easier to take. Then the alcohol jumps in and threatens to burn the other sensations away. Soon it settles into a pleasant blending, finishing of a bitter but sticky sweet note with a low alcohol burn. Nice.

Bottle from Capone’s. Turbid deep copper pour with 2-finger khaki head. Aroma of bready caramel malt, big hops, citrus, mango, black pepper, tangerine, pineapple. The palate is hefty, very malty, with a lot of hop and citrus flavors balancing well. My only caveat is that this one does indeed begin a little hot, and paradoxically seems to mellow out a bit as it warms. This one lasted me a good 30 minutes and 1.5 cigars, and I savored every sip. Oh, and the bottle kicks major ass, too.

Bomber, thanks to Drewbeerme for sharing this one. Nice orange amber with large white head. Aroma is doughy, orange, and that sweet barleywine malt. Flavor is very malt based with light pine taste. Pretty full and nice carb. Nice.
