On tap at the Michigan Fall Beer Fest. A nice bit of funkiness. Quite refreshing with a nice tartness.

Poured from a bomber into a brandy snifter. 2012 vintage otherwise no bottle date. Pours with a lot of fizzy head but little lacing. Mildly funky, hippy and tart aroma. Mouthfeel is very light with too much carbonation. Taste is lemon, funk, grassy hops, Belgian taste, cedar and clay. You know, this could have been a great beer. Ultimately, it just doesn't have enough flavor. It is kinda like seltzer water flavored like a good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I was born in Western Michigan, so I really want to like the brews from New Holland. Unfortunately, most of the beers are very middling. This bours a barely hazy brown shade of amber with white head. Scent is almost nonexistent. Taste is a nondescript bland bitter. Palate is decent, but that cannot be any beers saving grace. Draft - Brick Store Pub - Decatur, GA

Bright gold color with small head and nice lacing. Aroma is weak but has a light tartyness. Flavor is also a bit light, with a balance of sweet hops and funkyness. Okay overall

Smells remarkably like floral soap. Don’t know whether this odor is good or bad. Tally ho! After a slew of subpar beers, a surprise helps turn things around! Farmhouse Hatter is quite the interesting beer, not a stunner, but with enough curiosities to keep me occupied for a while. It pours with the best of them, a gorgeous gold with a huge, fluffy white head that leaves lace with reckless abandon. Tastes solid, with more of a Belgian slant than that of a strong American IPA. The soap thing comes through, but the finish is bitter and yeasty and with a slowly evolving tang. Like I said, curious, and not in a bad way.
