Interesting aroma, with a touch of spiciness, pine, and a hint of vanilla. Pours a clear reddish-amber, with a huge white head. The hops come forward in this one with a grassy quality, with just hints of Belgian sugar and spice. Not bad, but there are much better Belgian IPAs out there to try.

Pours a clear orange yellow. Aroma of vanilla, oak and flowers. Starts with light malt base and quickly mixes spicy (from the yeast) and floral (from the hops) with the hops winning in the end.

Pours amber with thick cream head. Leaves a nice lacing, but not too sticky. Aroma is floral hops, yeast and spicy herbal notes. Flavor is peppery, fennel, a bit of toffee sweetness and a dryer floral hop finish. Nice, medium body with light carbonation. In line with the others in the Hatter series....nothing spectaular, but drinkable.

22oz bottle 8/4/11 ’11 Vintage (Binny’s Downers Grove)-42° in Trappist Glass-Pours a cloudy orangish amber with a nice full slightly off white head. Aroma of yeast, Brett, pine, and citrus. Taste of funk, Belgian, hops, caramel, tartness, and citru. Big carbonation. This medium bodied brew is different but in a good way. I like the funkiness of it.

Light colored, well-carbonated. The yeast character in this is lovely, with more funk and berries than spice. Unfortunately the hop character is merely ok, slightly bitter, and not very smooth at that . It is well brewed and at it’s best is a light grassy/berry summer treat, but it just doesn’t go where the american hops can. I never new American hops could pair well with a Belgian yeast, though, until I tried Iron Hill Belgian IPA, Stone’s Cali-Belgique doesn’t do it for me either.

Bottle thanks to someone. Pours with a huge foamy white head over a hazed golden body. Aromas are floral, peppery, estery, phenol, apricot and sage. Flavors are equally floral and spicy. Bitter, grainy, apricot, grassy, hoppy. Stone fruit, lingering esters. Lively carbonation.

Definitely farmhouse. It didn’t have any really big flavors, but lots of subtle hints of apple, hops, orange, and that outdoor smell. Nose was bright and fairly fruity, but with an acidic, lemon bent. Overall, smooth and easy to drink. Poured a nice golden color with a frothy white head. Well worth it.

Translucent amber with a foamy and pillowy beige blanket atop. Aroma of bready yeast, citrus, lemongrass, yeast and grains. Fizzy body tastes of spicy Belgian yeast, pale malt, floral hops and light funk. Mild bitterness, the low end of the hatters.

Amber in color with a thin white head. Aroma is spicy and estery, with a rosey, floral nose to it. Taste is a biscuity version of that with dry, peary esters into the finish. $6/22oz

22oz bottle from Binny’s Lakeview, split with dwm1034. Pours a hazy amber color with an off white head. Aroma is fruity, Hoppy, wierd funky citrus, yeast. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is bitter, hoppy, yeasty, a little tart, with a bitter hop finish. Wierd. Probably would not purchase again.
