COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the story goes, the charm of the Cap hails an otherwise mischievous band of winged-monkeys to carry out any three commands its owner wishes, such as carrying you from vast scarlet poppy fields to Emerald City, or even to the comfort of a country farmhouse. Golden Cap Saison however, brings the comfort to you with its modern interpretation of a traditional farmhouse ale. A soft, pale beer, Golden Cap accentuates the flavors and aromas of summer fields. Brewed with an ancestor to wheat called spelt, and bottle-conditioned; it's straw-colored body accentuated with lively carbonation and unique fermentation profile evoke fresh cut hay and cracked peppercorns. Ep-pe, pep-pe, kak-ke! Hil-lo, hol-lo, hel-lo! Ziz-zy, zuz-zy, zik!

A - pours hazy golden straw with 1 finger of screaming white head that dissipates to a lasting ring. S - the belgian yeasts dominate with their overly sweet ripe apples notes. spelt, cloves, and more belgian yeast. M - medium full body. denser than expected. overly sweet throughout. end is wet and sweet. T - the belgian yeasts and spelt blend to a fake grape type flavoring. belgian yeasts, alfalfa and dried grass. O - nice but so so sweet.

Pours a hazy golden color but without much of a head. Has a sweet nectar aroma. Flavor is yeasty and sweet honey, with some additional spices I couldn’t quite put my finger on...maybe the peppercorn and hay, and maybe even lemon judging from the other comments on the beer. Whatever is in it, the beer is flavorful, if a bit too syrupy towards the end. Has a nice, smooth medium body feel. I enjoyed it.

Bottle from trade with JB. Pours out a yellow color with a white head on it. Smell is fruity, full of hay, and a slight hop bitterness in the nose. Taste smooth with pretty high carbonation. Not a bad Saison, but not one of my Favs.

I liked it. It was different, and yes, heavy on the tart, but I thought it had a good degree of funk. Yeast noticeable on the nose, a bit less in the body. From Wegs in Erie.

bottle. golden with small head. lemony saison with light hop bite. not much in the way of funk, but there is the tartness from the lemon.

A pretty good saison that favors the lemon flavor. Almost reminds me of a candy lemon drop which is not a bad thing. Overall not a bad beer.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Bottle: Bright straw-yellow, though murky and hazy throughout with a stark white head and some nice lacing. Lemon zest and Lemon Pledge, light Candi sugar, gets more "Belgian-esque" as it warms up; think along the lines of a tripel more than a saison. Taste contains a very slight lemony tartness along with some residual sugary sweetness, musky, dry, and "worn-out" hops, bready malt, and a very slight dry, yeasty funk in the finish. Slick, dry, crisp finish on this thin-medium bodied saison. Saison-tripel hybrid, just a bit better than New Holland’s replacement, Monkey King.

Bottle. Pours a golden orange color with white head. Honey, malty, sweet, spicy aromas. Spicy, herbal, citrus, hay flavors. Not a fan.

Backlog rating 1-27-2009 (Bottle) This beer pours a medium sized white fizzy frothy head that has pour retention, slightly hazy body, fair amount of lacing, lively carbonation, and the hue of the body is pale yellow. The Aroma is coriander, wheat, fruity, malty, and biscuits. This beer tastes sweet, spicy, fruity, and wheat. The Palate is tingly and this is a light-medium bodied beer. This beer is quaffable and refreshing and would be a beer I would consider drinking in the summer.

Draft at craft ale house. Pours hazy yellow with a big white head. There is tons of carbonation in the glass. The aroma has a ton of sweet citrus fruit, almost like a juice box. The taste has a nice hop kick and a dry, lemon finish. There is a bit of pepper spice.
