COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Michigan grown hops are the story in this seasonal harvest ale. Hopivore is wet-hopped with hops added to the brew just hours after harvest, creating rare, fresh flavors.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2011 Copper color-orange and red highlites.LIttle to no head, fizzled quickly. Aroma of hops is very sublte, but im getting more malt, distinct malt grainyness & carmel and yeast notes- there is a weak cat-piss aroma and more definatly pronouced as it warms, yeah its getting danker now like magic. There are some yeast notes also.Seems it is more dominated with a octoberfest like mineraly/metallic smell Taste is munichy- light burnt carmel with toasted with nut tones. A litle light carmel sweetness. Then a pretty strong herbal grassy bittering a little more in the flavor than bittering. Overall its fairly smooth and sweetwith a malty nutty dryness and a hoppy dry medium bittering finish. All the remnants seem to linger in the finish. Its pretty strong in sweet toasted malt flavor, this with the bittering makes it seem a little on the harsh side.Sligtly disapointed very happy to drink it. Im kind of disapointed in the hop aroma/flavor of this,it seems more malty like a scottish ale or octoberfest, its just mild i guess,in hop flavor.

12oz bottle split at DC tasting. Orange-brown. Thin oily head. Very mellow, not unlike other NH beer. Clean, with lots of fresh hop tones. Doughy malt backbone. Very easy drinking, interesting contrast between the malt tones and the fresh, earthy hops. Quite nice.

12 ounce bottle, no bottling date but it is from this years batch. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with fantastic retention that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap. Some nice lacing clings around the glass as well. Aromas of caramel, spiciness, pine, orange, tropical fruit, toasted malt, bread, and nuttiness. Some interesting aromas here with good strength. Not as hoppy as I was hoping though. Taste of caramel, toasted malt, nuttiness, pine, citrus, and spiciness. Taste seems pretty watered down, I had to take a few drinks to decipher the flavor profile. Fair amount of bitterness on the finish; with some light lingering notes of toasted malt, nuttiness, pine, spices, and caramel on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and quite nice mouthfeel that drinks smoothly. No alcohol noticed at all. Overall for being a bit watered down this is actually fairly enjoyable. It is drinkable and not really offensive in flavor profile, just a bit weak.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a clear amber with about a finger of thick white head. Aroma is caramel, some slight herbal hops and a surprising amount of skunk. Taste is very lightly bitter. Taste of caramel and light herbal hops. Light bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, it’s ok. Nothing I would seek out but it’s still drinkable.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Deep copper brown brew with one finger of dense off white head. Good head persistence and ample lacing. Nice aroma of light hops, toasted malts, earth, and a ’green’ scent like fresh cut grass or crushed green leaves. Taste is lightly toasted malts with some sweet overtones, gentle hoppiness throughout the swallow with a very modest floral assertion in the finish. The green chlorophyl taste and a bit of earthiness lunk in the background, with the fresh green taste asserting itself modestly in the finish. This strikes me as a fine English Pale Ale, maybe an English IPA, not nearly hopped up enough to be a modern IPA. I don’t know why they chose the name Hopivore, which (to me) implies hopped up to the max (which this isn’t). Well - if you can get beyond the mis-match in the labelling and if you are looking for a great tasting brew this is great tasting and unique ale!

pours out a nice amber color with light carbonation, and minimal head and lacing. a musty, dusty, earthy hops aroma over a slightly toasty malt body; more inviting than bracing. I wonder if the hops have diminished somewhat in this short time between the hops harvest in Michigan and now, as the character is more of an english IPA than an american IPA. pleasant and certainly hoppier than something like an amber ale, but i think calling it an IPA is a bit of a stretch. having said that, it’s quite tasty with a nice body and clean finish that leaves the glass very enjoyably.

12oz bottle. Clear, orange bronze color. Minimal off-white head. Nice, typical juicy-resin hop flavor, but a bit subdued. Crisp, lighter carbonation. Mild dryness. Good bitterness with a bit of sweet.

Tasting this a bit past its prime - Orange-amber with decent, creamy, white head / Nose of caramel, toast, and cooked citrus / Medium body, somewhat fat, malty with only modest hopping and lightly sweet finish / Flavors of toast, caramel, and cooked fruit / Below average with no fresh hop character.
