3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (6723) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 11, 2011
Bottled. Poured fiery reddish-brown with a short-lived off-white head.. nice color, but the head/lacing looked messy in the glass. The aroma picked up sweet caramel and honey with juicy earth and pine hoppage around.. not exciting by any means, but it was aiight. The flavor found the same sweet sugars at the core, and added some medium-skinned fruits.. resiny bitterness surrounded, mostly citrus and pine.. residual sugars and nondescript bitterness on the finish. Medium-bodied with a syrupy feel from the malts.. moderate, persistent bitterness throughout.. dried out and fell off the palate fast on the finish.. OK overall feel and flow.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Drake (6600) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - MAR 20, 2012
Hmm... as I opened this an Eminem song popped up on Pandora and the previous rater of this beer got it from a user named Slim Shady. Coincidence? Absolutely. 12 ounce bottle from Sam’s Quik Stop. Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of big toasty and caramel malts with peppery and herbal hops. The taste is bitter green and resiny hops with caramel malts. Some honey and toastiness as well. Medium bodied. There’s no best by date on the bottle, so I’m hoping it was old when I bought it. It’s good, but falls short on the wet hop promise. And I’m used to New Holland falling short.
