3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Taco Mac Lindbergh. Pours orange-amber with a thin white head that quickly disappears. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. No getting much on the nose except a faint leafy hop note. Has some citrus on the tongue but feels subdued. Finished clean. Kind of boring for style.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour is a murky orange with a large white head. Aroma is a decent pungent hop with a bit of sweet malt. Flavor is an ok hop but it’s followed by a very heavy and cloying sweet malt. Thick mouthfeel with some molasses sugary sweet malt. Here is another IPA that has way too much malt presence and after awhile this hops lose their mojo and it turns into a malt heavy bomb.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bottle. 2014 vintage. Doesn’t have a bottled on date, assuming kind of old, was on the clearance rack for $2.29. Slightly floral hops, can tell this is a past it’s prime IPA, actually comes off slightly barleywineish. Definitely below average for a double IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance – The beer is served a hazy orange color with a two finger head of billowy foam atop the brew. As the brew sits the head fades rather slowly leaving a fantastic level of white foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma of the brew is heaviest of a grapefruit and pine smell along with a little bit of a bready aroma. A moderate amount of a caramel smell as well as a little bit of a tropical fruit aroma are there as well, producing a malty and moderately hopped aroma overall.
Taste - The taste begins with a very smooth bready and doughy flavor along with a little bit of a grapefruit citrus hop and a moderate level of sweeter fruits of tangerine and pineapple as well as some caramel. As the taste advances the grapefruit increases a bit, but never gets too strong. Along with the grapefruit comes some pine hop flavors along with the sweeter fruit flavor that was present upfront fading some. Toward the end, the hops get moderately strong, but never all that powerful and with the doughty and bready flavors remaining rather strong and a light herbal flavor coming to the tongue, one is left with a smooth and moderately hopped malty flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel - The body of the beer is thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the big bready flavors the thick body is rather nice and it does help accentuate the hop a bit more, which is needed, as it is a bit too low for the Imperial IPA style.
Overall - Decent in flavor, but somewhat lacking in hops. A little too thick and malty with not enough hop to be classified as an imperial IPA. A nice drinker, but overall rather not really what I am looking for in an imperial IPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the Daily Growler. Copper orange pour with light tan head. Aroma of dank pine, citrus. Tastes are citrus, pine, toast. Strange sour bitter. Covers alcohol well. 7.2

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasted on tap at New Holland Brewing. It poured a hazy amber with a small off white head and fairly solid lacing. Fruity hop aroma (grapefruit with a hint of peach) and a malty hop taste. This one is defiantly hitting the spot.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at happy gnome. 10oz. Dark orange with good head and lacing. Grapefruit and hop aroma. Heavy pine grapefruit and alcohol. Finished slightly syrupy and sugar and leaves hop alcohol. Lots of flavor but wanted a tiny more depth and better body.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark gold/amber with a decent sized off white head that settles to a thick ring and a film, leaving just a few touches of spotty lace. Nose involves pine, citrus, stone fruit, some caramel and honey, toasted malt, spice. It’s not a huge nose, but that’s fine with me. Pretty sweet, quite bitter though. Medium to full bodied, oily, pretty active, with a lengthy drying resinous hop bitter finish. Enjoyable, not legendary, but do they all have to be legendary? Well constructed, balanced, and even somewhat refreshing despite its size.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/1/2014. Pours lightly cloudy deep orange copper color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, bread, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and well balanced citrus hops and caramel/bready malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, bread, floral, grass, pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, brown sugar, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of juicy citrus hops and a good amount of caramel/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately slick and sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice DIPA style. All around good complexity and balance of juicy citrus hops and caramel/bready malt sweetness; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
